Any word on the status of the 4th of July fireworks in TC (which has been operated and funded separately from the Cherry Festival in the past)?
I do know Lake City came out a few weeks ago and said they'd sacrifice most of their planned 4th events in order to save their fireworks.
Acceptable registrations in the queue through March 30 at 9:00a ET have now been activated. Enjoy! -M.W.

Re: Remember When What Is Now Comcast Cable, Cost $5.00 A Month?
From newspaper archives I've seen (and the 1980 edition of the Broadcasting Yearbook), Traverse City never had WJRT, but did have WKBD (on cable 3!), as well as WBAY, WFRV, WLUK, and WZZM. Side note: 7&4 was on 4, 9&10 was on 10, 29&8 was on 8, and WCMU was on 6, as they all are to this day. Some no...

Re: Great Lakes Reception Maps
Well done! I haven't seen FM DX data presented quite like this before. The map answers questions that I would never have thought to ask. Back in my formative years, I was intensely interested in the correlation between TV DX conditions--especially on UHF--and severe weather. I had several interesti...

Semi-related is what Cembalest's boss Jamie Dimon told analysis today: “A rational plan to get back to work is a good thing to do, and hopefully it will be sooner rather than later,” Dimon said Tuesday on a conference call with analysts. “But it won’t be May. We’re talking about June, July, August,...

Re: Best/worst announcers of all time.
I know Pat O'Brien's voice and I know what he looks like. I remember his sportscasting days fairly well. He was mostly a roaming reporter / studio host. The CBS play-by-play man whose name escaped me was Tim Ryan. Absolutely hated his work on NBA basketball and NFL football. He was a rock solid spo...

Re: Covid 19 Media Layoffs Begin - Entercom
To Cumulus' credit, they did prepay a good chunk of debt via asset sale proceeds and free cash flow from operations in 2019. However, that momentum has now come to a grinding halt. Because of the election and great economy coming out of 2019, all expectations were for 2020 to be a good year from a ...

A couple quick notes on Global TV for our American neighbours.... --Windsorites don't need Global bc they just show in prime time the same as the American networks that we already get OTA.Thats why there is a null towards the US border for protection of the American networks. ---Windsorites don't n...

Re: WKLT-fm, Kalkaska and WKLZ-fm, Petoskey
Air-1 instead of K-Love ?!?! Wow, that is a big surprise. I thought for sure K-Love would air there. Air-1 is nowhere even remotely as popular as K-Love. 98.9 going Air-1 is very interesting. This also makes Traverse City-Petoskey one of very few markets to have Air-1 but no K-Love (the other examp...

Re: Governor to do a town hall on several Detroit TV stations
7&4 in Traverse City didn't air the town hall, allowing Wheel and Jeopardy to air as planned there. I'm assuming 29&8 aired it, as well as at least one of 9&10 and Local 32 I found that both WWTV 9 & WFQX 32 had the town hall on last evening. I say this because I flipped through my OTA channels dur...

Re: Covid 19 Media Layoffs Begin - Entercom
They say the economy will recover the second half of the year but I strongly doubt it. When this crisis ends, they'll be a need for more employees and advertising as places and venues open back up. But of course, this is the media we're talking about, and if the new formula works great now, any bet...
