Re: Comcast Removing Detroit and Lansing Channels

Hopefully that means their subscribers will at least see a slight reduction in their bills. Wondering what made them decide to make this change after all these years. Were any of these stations sometimes blocked, due to the FCC's "Network Non-Duplication and Syndicated Exclusivity" rules?

Re: New Daytime Talk Shows

Yeah, that was awkward. These announcers have to deal with that sort of thing every year, promoting the new network primetime shows, regardless of how they really feel about the shows or the people in them. Promoting a syndicated daytime talk show may be a new low.

Re: New Daytime Talk Shows

For those interested, Kelly Clarkson's new show now has a station list online: https://www.kellyclarksonshow.com/exclusives/where-to-watch Looks like she'll be on almost everywhere in the U.S. I was surprised NBC is promoting it on their cable channels like NBCSN, even though it's syndicated to a lo...

Re: New Daytime Talk Shows

Chris Harrison did a good job as host of "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" but now that it's cancelled, he'll have more time to hang out with all those bachelors and bachelorettes. As for court shows, I remember being hooked on them as a teenager in the 1980s. Shows like the original "People's Court" ...

Re: KFOG Bites The Dust

Wow! Maybe this means Cumulus will hold on to at least some of their San Francisco stations. Hopefully there is another AAA or alternative rock station to fill the void left by KFOG flipping to KNBR's sports format.

Re: Network programming preemptions by individual stations

Not sure what the infomercial was on WDIV last Thursday, though this week it's an "All 4 Pets" special and "Live In The D" "Out On The Town" from 8-9 pm tomorrow, (Thursday August 22.)

Re: New Daytime Talk Shows

Correction: about Tamron Hall's new show. Apparently her website has the wrong channel and show time for Detroit. After checking with a woman named Janelle in the program department of channel 7 and 20, Tamron's show will be on WMYD-TV 20 Detroit, weekdays at 11:00 am starting September 9.

Re: Network programming preemptions by individual stations

A couple preemptions of note this week. First, looks like WDIV Local 4 has paid programming from 8 to 9 pm tonight (Thursday August 15) preempting another rerun of NBC's "The Wall." Then on Saturday, WXYZ 7 will delay ABC's rerun of a live performance of "The Jeffersons" and "All In The Family" unti...

Re: CBSDetroit62

I always loved the smooth voice of Michelle DeSouza delivering the station id. "You're watching WGPR TV 62, Detroit." There was also a man who recorded station ids for 62 in the late 80s/early 90s, but I'm not sure who he was.

Re: CBSDetroit62

The call letter change made sense, because the WGPR calls supposedly originally stood for "Where God's Presence Radiates." While I don't think 62 was ever marketed as a "Christian" or religious station, their prime time schedule and much of their daytime schedule was filled with programs from variou...

Re: Brother Stair still on the radio

That is a good name for him. I checked am 1530 WCKY Cincinnati around 1:00 AM yesterday and he was not on that station at that time. They aired their usual ESPN Radio programming, "Sportscenter All Night" so unless they moved him to a different time slot, he may be finally gone from that station.

Brother Stair still on the radio

While visiting family near New York City last week, I happened to hear old "Brother Stair" on the radio early one morning while flipping through the am dial. I think the station was am 620 WSNR. Surprised he's still buying radio time. Thought he was either in jail or dead. Hard to mistake his raspy ...

Re: WTF is channel 4 doing?

I miss the days when it was acceptable to preempt for live local sports on free tv. In some cities, it still is acceptable. Chicago's "ABC 7" as well as WGN-TV have Cubs games every week. New York's WPIX still has Yankees and Mets games almost every week. Detroit only seems to have Lions preseason ...

New Daytime Talk Shows

Seeing promos for two new daytime talk shows in syndication this fall. As someone who works from home, I'm always interested in smart and entertaining television during the day. Kelly Clarkson's new daytime show sounds like a lot of fun and worth checking out. While it will be syndicated by NBC Univ...

Re: I now know your pain...

While WGGN may or may not be interested in such programming, seems to me the easiest fix would be WMYD-TV 20. May not be perfect, but they have mostly the same primetime shows as WMNT, as well as Antenna TV on a subchannel.
