Re: Traveler information stations on AM 530, 1610, etc
I have seen signs on the roads to bridges etc "for info tune to 16xx " The DTW info radio has moved from 920 to 1610. I heard the 920 signal all the way to my Commerce Twp. location. Marysville had a TIS station 0n 1700 I think, antenna was behind the Public Safety building, always seemed to have di...

Re: Congressman Says Make AM a Mandatory Car Safety Feature
What about the possible shift to DIGI ony AM stations ???, there have been reports of some stations going to DIGITAL modes like HD without any standard AM signal going out. Is this a possible trend for AM MW stations.

Re: WWV / WWVH
Yup, today's the day. I usually check reception of CHU along with WWV and go with the clearer signal. Some days, none of those signals are audible enough to use. In that event, I just use the clock on my cell phone, which is usually spot-on with the SW broadcasts. Ho. I don't think there was EVER a...

That sounds about right, measured to the "radiation center" of stacked array antennas.

Re: "Narrower" Band FM
Narrower AM HD ? I just took a look at an AM HD siglnal .It covers 30 kHz of the band spectrum ! The "main" carrier is at 1340 kHz, the basic AM sidebands go +/- 5 kHz, the Digital AM stereo "carrier" is at +/-10 KHz and the digital signals extend above 1350 another 5 kHz and below 1330 by another 5...

The WDEO transmitter site is about .6 miles from the Huron river, do we expect to have fairy good ground conductivity with the water nearby ?

Re: WCAR, Dark ?
AM 1090's audio levels and signal strength are both super faint. The station is barely discernible. Wouldn't surprise me if they are using a long wire setup to remain on the air. My thinking ; if they had a fire , maybe the transmitter is a borrowed one at low power ? Where I worked back in the ear...

Re: 3 element FM antenna
You mentioned WMUZ being less then 500 ft AAT, I know the new tower they have been using for decades is a 500 footer (AGL), they abandoned the 300 ft tower and put up the 500 ft right next to it! Been a long time now !

Re: DX 370
I had a desktop RadioShack SW rcvr for a long time. It was a DX3something. It had the digi display and was pretty good on SSB/CW and sounded good on AM for SW band BC listening. I took it camping lot and ran it on a 12 V rechargable battery.

Re: "Narrower" Band FM
The authorities came up with the devation for BCFM , for the best IF noise supression etc, using 1940's tech . It has been used so long, it's hard to make any major changes in spectrum use etc.

Re: searching for tramsmitter output power
Bobhuge & all, What kind of station are you looking at ? All the AM stations I look up show what must be transmitter output power, or in directional arrays it's the power delivered to a common point going to the array... FM is rated by ERP so you have to back up from a gain antenna system to get the...
