Re: Another leaving WXYZ
Brian Abel leaving in May, next stop not yet announced. Memo went out to staff. Abel aside, its another example of how salaries have dropped so much, stations can’t keep talent for more than a few cycles. A 5/10pm anchor in this market used to make around 175-250K. You didnt need to “leave” to Chic...

Re: Weather Boys
I beg to differ. I’m under 40 and watch the news. And I don’t want to see Derek Kreepvra and Alan ShlongStreet or anyone for that matter being all lovey dovey with each other and running around without shirts on hugging each other during a news and Information program. I don’t like Jason Carr but I...

Another high profile Republican speaks out against the thin-skinned wannabe dictator: https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/politics/elections/2024/03/17/republican-lawmaker-declines-endorse-donald-trump/73009793007/ but yet “I plan to vote for a Republican for the presidency of the United States ,” ...

Re: After yesterday's speech, if you vote for Trump, you have blood on your hands
Could this be considered suggesting a 2nd insurrection attempt? If so, based on SCOTUS ruling, Congress can disqualify big orange from running. Considering there wasn't a "first" insurrection, you'd have to wait for one of those to occur before you could suggest a 2nd one. Unless you're thinking th...

Re: Haley walks back pledge to support the facist
Voting isn't rocket science. There are folks under the age of 21 who work full-time jobs and pay taxes. Those folks absolutely deserve voting privileges, in my opinion. It's not that the actual process is hard, it's understanding the implications. Lots of people -citizens- under 18 also work and pa...

Re: Haley walks back pledge to support the facist
"We" (society) can't even trust them with cigarettes, vaping, alcohol or functioning in a casino. Why should they be trusted with anything more important? All those ages are random, and really have no basis in fact or research. I know 17 year olds I would put in charge of my retirement account, and...

Re: GOP SOTU response
We could be at war with Russia if we aren't careful. So that's the same. Trump is threatening to suspend the constitution on day one in office and enact the insurrection act to use the military for some odd reason. If he does the 60s riots will be like a love in compared to what will go down. Sorry...

BMW, If an auto mechanic is grossly negligent by not bolting up a part correctly and you get in an accident which kills someone, does a prosecutor go after you? No This was an accident, and Baldwin was free of malice. He fired that prop as it was designed to be used. Even the 26 year old armorer di...

Re: Haley walks back pledge to support the facist
Well gee, TC Talks, do you expect those under the age of 18 to vote? :razz Weren't there roughly 153 million votes cast in the 2020 general election? It's bad enough that the 18-21 can vote anyways. Most of them cannot take care of themselves, not make important life decisions. They should have nev...

Re: Alec Baldwin shoots and kills a 42-year old woman
Poor girl was a scape-goat for Hollywood.
Not saying she didn't have any culpability or doesn't deserve the sentence, but to put ALL the focus on her while the actual SHOOTER is still partying around town shows you where the real priorities lie.

Re: Getting a third person as president
What about going back whoever gets most electoral votes is president, second place is VP? It takes a constitutional amendment, I know. I don't think you could go with the "second most votes", because you'd always have a conflict between the two major parties. How about who gets the THIRD most votes...

Re: Getting a third person as president
If a true "celebrity" decided to do it, I'd bet they could. Using twitter (X), FB and other social media to direct folks to a small organization within each state would/could certainly fulfill the signature requirements. I'd bet they could do that in a week or two. There really is no financial hurdl...

Re: Getting a third person as president
I believe they'd have to register in enough states so that their electoral total could exceed 270. So they don't really have to register in ALL states, but certainly the big ones. Most (all?) states have a signature requirement for the petition but that might only be a few thousand. In a place like ...

Fair points. The last do-over general election candidate to win a later Presidential general election was - wait for it - Richard Nixon! :barf Of course, a number of folks have lost primary contests within their party who later succeeded in winning their party's nomination - and in a number of case...
