Re: WDIV new set

Looks a lot like the old one based on what I saw this morning. A ton of bright blue, bright silver and spansive video walls.

Re: Channel 7 (WXYZ) rebranding next Monday?

He is capable of doing some very good stuff, but I agree that the promos featuring his "happy" voice are creepy.

Re: March PPM's

98.7 plays none of the CanCon 89X played, plays no Eminem, has zero street presence, and plays the same number of currents and recurrents hourly as most Alternative reporters in the PPM markets. Is the formula working right now? Absolutely. 98.7 still plays currents. About two or three an hour. The ...

Re: Channel 7 (WXYZ) rebranding next Monday?

I see 7 has quietly stopped broadcasting its weekend morning news from its fish bowl like studio inside the Chase Bank building in downtown Detroit. I will miss the absurdly giddy Brian Lee voiceover plugging the fact the newscast originates from downtown (where viewers could see deserted streets th...

Exactly. It's bizarre that 7 is carried but 20 is not. Scripps bought channel 20 maybe eight years ago?

Re: Nexstar's CWNetwork looking for a new detroit home as Scripps pulls affiliation from its stations

WMYD is not carried by any of the big three streaming services: YouTube TV, Hulu, and DirecTV Stream.

WKBD is found on all three.

Mike Murri or some flunky Scripps corporate SVP needs to get off their ass and find a way to improve distribution of WMYD.

Re: Nexstar's CWNetwork looking for a new detroit home as Scripps pulls affiliation from its stations

Bally's is supposed to start a streaming relationship with Amazon Prime this autumn. I doubt Amazon Prime wants to complete with free OTA telecasts, but the teams themselves might find the wide exposure offered by OTA broadcast availability alluring. I'd love to see more games on channel 20, persona...

Yup. They were designed to be light hearted and humorous, generally speaking. I enjoyed that feature.

Re: Nexstar's CWNetwork looking for a new detroit home as Scripps pulls affiliation from its stations

I never, ever remember WDIV carrying Pistons games (aside from those carried as part of NBA on NBC network coverage in the 90s). WKBD and then WMYD (WDWB) were the Pistons Television Network flagships before FS Detroit purchased rights to all telecasts (after previously having only partial rights). ...

Re: March PPM's

WJLB simply does a better job serving the hip-hop and R&B audience than 107.5. 107.5 is basically a half-assed version of WJLB. No one listens to The Morning Hustle locally (a syndicated morning show from Urban One), and 107.5 in evenings airs a syndicated show from Atlanta. 107.5 seems to play a l...

Re: ThisTV now coming to Ch 12.7

This TV is complete garbage. Trust me, there is zero programming worth viewing. WDIV 4.2 continues to carry it for reasons that escape me.

Example: reruns of the "Highway from Hell" tow truck series and "Weather Gone Viral" series, each from The Weather Channel, air weeknights in primetime.

Yup. Buick City in Flint being a prime example. Portions of it have been redeveloped already (Lear has a plant there), but plenty remains available for re-use.

Any folks from EGR who shop at Meijer are much more likely to shop at the Knapps Corner or Cascade stores.

A lot of the inner city crowd shops at 28th and Kalamazoo.

Re: Nexstar's CWNetwork looking for a new detroit home as Scripps pulls affiliation from its stations

The "local sports" reference is interesting. We saw some Pistons and Wings games air on 20 this month. I wonder if more of that is in store for this autumn? There has to be something inherently wrong with how CW approaches affiliation. Losing multiple major station groups as affiliation partners is ...
