Re: Will Trump Close The Mexican Border ?

Keep it open. One aspect: Lots of our food comes from there, which affects American businesses and families. Restaurants can't serve lots of food, reducing customer count. Lots of fruits and vegetables would not be available, or would be much more expensive, raising food prices for families. Why sho...

Re: FM Stations That Used To Be Listenable In SE MI, But Now Difficult Or Impossible

My argument was about IBOC on adjacent channels. Of course, a translator that broadcasts overtop of an existing signal will turn people off. Some crap translator that broadcasts over WQKL which my area is part of its licensed listening area is a problem. But I’m still unconvinced this is the reason ...

Re: FM Stations That Used To Be Listenable In SE MI, But Now Difficult Or Impossible

Likewise, people don’t abandon FM because of translators on adjacent channels, as much as I hate them. It’s programming. I abandon FM because of poor programming. My friends abandon FM because of poor programming. My parents even barely listen to FM radio.

Re: FM Stations That Used To Be Listenable In SE MI, But Now Difficult Or Impossible

Nah. I’m not convinced HD is having that effect. The typical listener here in Metro Detroit isn’t trying to pull in WIOG. That’s just something we radio nerds do. And those on the rural fringes of the market who now can’t pull in WIOG when they could before HD aren’t abandoning FM because of that.

Re: FM Stations That Used To Be Listenable In SE MI, But Now Difficult Or Impossible

My opinion: HD broadcasting is a minor issue compared to the rest of the issues. I don't believe for a second that it "is what is literally killing the FM Band with HD Radio transmission." HD broadcasting and IBOC interference is only noticed by us radio nerds. Translators, as much of an annoying pa...

Yea that kinda killed my FM DX hobby, or getting a taste of what radio outside of Detroit sounds like. Translators are parasites.

Re: WWJ/WKBD launches news operation

Is there any news outlet that isn't considered "fake news" by so many? I've seen objective sources say that local news is one of the more unbiased sources as far as political leanings go, or is that also fake news?

Re: The cost of FM Translators and LPFM Transmitters

It cost us the stations we actually want to listen to that those parasite translators trample all over.

Re: AOC Sucks?

Its because we are scared and worried about living in a generation where someone that clueless and extreme can get elected. We are hoping to highlight her reckless, irresponsible and ignorant ramblings as a wake up call to the equally ignorant voters who elected such a person. She is proof that can...

Re: Most versatile radio pop/rock song

I love 1970’s-80’s Elton John music. Tiny Dancer, Bennie and the Jets, Funeral For A Friend, Yellow Brick Road. I’m thinking of “timeless classics” across many genres that has made it onto many popular formats, so what about these: Michael Jackson - Thriller Aretha Franklin - Respect Doobie Brothers...

Re: Most distant AM/FM/TV signal you ever tuned in?

I’ve received KOA 850 and a station on 710 from Cuba from Livonia. I also received a 1kW WTIR 1680 from Winter Garden, FL in Plymouth at night.
