Re: CBEF 540

Neither 540 nor 1550 could be easily upgraded to 50 kW. CBEF 1550 is just 10 kW. Either one would have to have more towers and a narrow beamwidth to have significantly more power.

Re: Country 600 North Bay

I'd look at ARSA and the Broadcasting Yearbook for that.

WTOD was Top 40 at least until 1968.

Perhaps they should add the MW Poll. Maybe it will become as famous as the WMPL Hockey Poll.

It's CKAT 600 North Bay, ON. I think they may be on Day facilities when you hear them.

WDFN History Card Labelled WCXI when History Cards became obsolete due to computerization of records in the early 1980s. Shows TLs and SLs from sign on to circa 1981. https://licensing.fcc.gov/cgi-bin/prod/cdbs/forms/prod/getimportletter_exh.cgi?import_letter_id=51362 I believe it refers to the towe...

Re: Country stations on AM from the 60’s and 70’s

I believe that Dave Carr at WEXL is David Carmine, later the owner of The Country King, WKKM Harrison. More WYSI WSDS stories. The story I heard from Tom Skaff, once of Skaff Carpet fame, was that WYNZ had already signed on 40 kHz and 400 feet away, and created a huqe reradiation problem with the WY...

Re: Country stations on AM from the 60’s and 70’s

There are Dusty Rhodes all over the place. I assume the one from WXOX is the one from Mid-States/Panax. That Dusty Rhodes was named Clarence Rhodes, born in Flint, owned part of WAMM and WGMZ, moved to Lansing and managed WSWM, became an announcer for MSU and a well known Lansing Restaurateur. His c...
