Jim Carroll's song is great - I bought that 45 at the time.
"Don't Stop Me Now" peaked at #86 on the Billboard Hot 100. I would only hear the song back then when listening to my copy of "Jazz".
Acceptable registrations in the queue through April 26 at 9:00p ET have now been activated. Enjoy! -M.W.

Alisa Zee is Specs' daughter. I don't see any other staff names left on their site. I remember Dick Kernen coming to our HS for a career day.

Re: Your 10 songs that should be on radio (but are not)
10 of many: "Don't Stop Me Now" - Queen (how is it popular in commercials but never was a hit?) "Don't Turn Your Back" - B.O.C. "Don't You Know (Ambushed)" - Blue Rose "Casino Royale" - Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass "You Should Be High Love" - Billy Squier "Last Plane Out" (or "The Ballad of Jenny...

Q106 was (and is) WJXQ. I remember them around then with their studio (with WKHM) in Vandercook Lake.

Re: R.B. Greaves-Take a letter Maria
The label refers to Muscle Shoals Sound Studio, and was one of the early records made there by the Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section, a/k/a The Swampers, after they left FAME Studios to start their own venture. The studio opened in 1969, the same year this song was recorded and released, eventually reach...

"Je t'aime… moi non plus" by Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin fits in the general theme.

Re: Rain
If we're talking "I Can't Stand The Rain", we should recognize Ann Peebles' original version of the song. It features the one of the most original hooks of that year. We can also mention "It Might As Well Rain Until September" by Carole King from 1962, her first hit. "Rainy Day People" by Gordon Lig...

Re: RIP 89X
I liked 89X back in the 90's - where else would I have heard Bran Van 3000's "Drinking In L.A."? I haven't listened in years, however. I'm another that will be glad that 580 survives as it's been. I've tried streaming it lately on my Echo, and it's not been available every day, however, including to...

Re: Rain
Randy Newman wrote a song in the '60's titled "I Think It's Going To Rain Today", that's been covered by many artists. I haven't heard many of the cover versions, but my current favorite is by Joe Cocker from 1975.

Re: Elvis
Elvis SUCKS!!! His removal from radio station playlists eveywhere is one of a very few bright spots in an otherwise dreary period for commercial radio! I don't think he sucked. I think he was a lot better than most of the songs he sang, and his endless touring from the late '60s onward was to line ...

Re: Unique Edit Of "Hello It's Me"
Utopia's "Set Me Free" was actually a hit, peaking at #27 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1980. I may be one of few, but I liked The New Cars, not as a continuation of The Cars itself, but as a Todd Rundgren project. The album's not bad, and the new songs are in the power pop vein that Todd's always exc...

Re: 98.7 The Breeze flips to all Christmas on Halloween night
The ghost of the original WLLZ is awakened on Halloween to haunt the airwaves this holiday season. Scrooge gets a visit from the Ghost of Radio Past, when 98.7 wasn't a slave to the Endless Christmas Music Sales Train, and we got to celebrate our holiday season in a respectful and restrained manner....

Re: Unique Edit Of "Hello It's Me"
Rundgren's certainly deserving of Rock Hall consideration. That entity is, ironically enough, influenced by the publisher of that same magazine that promoted his classic album. Yet he's not in the Hall yet, and Whitney Houston is. Todd performed "Black Mariah" on one tour with Ringo Starr, and "I Sa...

Re: Unique Edit Of "Hello It's Me"
Yeah, that's there too. "I Saw The Light" was the lead single and other hit, months before "Hello It's Me" came out.
That album's about the same length as the White Album by the Beatles, and also still highly regarded today.
