Re: 96.3 wkla format tweak
Interesting. Quite a few recent stiffs on that playlist (i.e. "Filthy"). I take it this means they dropped the Westwood One format?

Re: CanCon You Like, CanCon You Don't Like
A couple of my faves, many of which I used to hear on CFCO and some of which are still heard on CKWW and CHOK: The Cooper Brothers - "The Dream Never Dies" (almost a US Top 40 hit), "I'll Know Her When I See Her", "Show Some Emotion". One of them later became a writer for "You Can't Do That on Telev...

Re: Classic Country In The North
You should be able to hear WGDN-FM fairly decently in Roscommon County. I think WBMI out of West Branch reaches some of the area pretty well too. It would be nice to have a classics station covering the whole region though. I enjoy listening to the Saturday night syndicated classics show they air on...

They did... in the '90s when "I Believe I Can Fly" and his Celine Dion duet were factors at AC radio. They likely haven't played him since. Nothing to do with his character; it has to do with the audience for those songs aging out of the AC demos.

Re: Fall 18 Nielsens
Does WLDR have any local programming now or is it still all WW1? Also, if I'm not mistaken, wasn't WLDR operating at greatly reduced power for much of that period? I'd love a "Duke" type format in northern Michigan. Unless you're within listening range of WBMI, WGDN-FM or WCBY, the only place to hea...

Re: 98.7 The Breeze just ruined itself with new RnB playlist
The Seattle station that would interest you the most is probably 94.1 The Sound. One caveat, they have Delilah at night.stopnswop2 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 24, 2019 4:46 pmDoes anyone know any good Soft AC stations I can listen to btw?
Besides the iHeart Breeze stations, 100.5 The River, and Easy 93.1?

If you click on the link and then click on "Advanced Coverage Area," you'll have an idea of how far it might be listenable.
I wouldn't be surprised if WATZ gives this translator some trouble as they seem to boom into the area with even the slightest bit of enhancement.

Re: Casey Kasem The 80’s
Detroit's AT40 airing history during the original Casey and Shadoe eras was something like this, if I'm not mistaken: 1970-71 W4 (as an oldies/Top 40 hybrid prior to the flip to AOR) 1977-82 WDRQ 1982-83 WMJC 1983-93 WHYT During the six-year period from 1971-77 when Detroit had no AT40 affiliate, th...

Re: Casey Kasem The 80’s
Casey's Top 40, which Casey hosted from January 1989 until the AT40 name was restored in the spring of '98, was a Westwood One show, so it's under a different umbrella from the 1970-88 AT40s. Would still be nice to hear it again though. I grew up listening to CT40's AC sister shows, Casey's Countdo...

Re: Most improved radio stations in 2018
I definitely give WDET credit for its localized focus. WDET and WEMU are both more useful listens than Michigan Radio in morning drive because of the local news (and especially traffic updates) they provide. I also give WDET credit for sounding more unique now than it has in a long time. When they f...

Re: Casey Kasem The 80’s
Great news! I used to listen to the '80s show Saturday nights on 101.5 The River until it was dropped, apparently due to poor ratings. Then I caught it on Cars 108 out of Flint, only to have that frequency now blocked because of a Spring Arbor translator. I've been streaming it online on WFGR out of...

Re: am 1250 Saginaw
They have a CP for a translator at 99.3. They were originally granted one at 98.5 which would have given WUPS listeners in Midland and Bay counties some headaches. They then were granted a move to 98.7 and now 99.3. The tower looks like it's co-located with the AM tower southwest of Bridgeport. http...

Re: 98.7 The Breeze just ruined itself
On the one hand, I liked what they were already doing. I may have been in the minority for enjoying it as a thirtysomething male - I was the kind of kid who preferred Amy Grant and Celine Dion to Nirvana and Pearl Jam; I listened to Q95 when my classmates preferred 96.3 or 89X. I didn't expect 98.7 ...
