Re: Pat Sajak retiring

Mr. Gilbert still does a solid job, too, at 94 years of age! And the rumor is that Ryan Seacrest is being considered to replace Sajak. Seacrest is enough to gag me. Johnny doesn't even sound 94. He doesn't look it. He's very youthful and his voice is strong as it was when the current version of Jeo...

Re: 6/15/23 tornadoes

In my area, there was a tree that landed on a house, causing a power outage that started on Thursday and lasted until this morning. My brother and sister-in-law however, have no power still. They said it could take 4 days, but I am glad I have power.

Re: Pat Sajak retiring

Not just that, but most of the daytime figures from the 80s, 90s, and even early 2000s, have either retired, died, or had their shows canceled or ended for the past few years now. This is an enormous loss with Pat's retirement. Who knows if Vanna retires with him? Hopefully they don't mess up the ho...

Re: Update - sale of WDRQ to Family Life Radio CONFIRMED

I haven't listened to 93.1 regularly since they flipped from Doug to Nash. I think WYCD is the overall better country station. Cumulus didn't do a good job at running Nash in its first few years. I wonder how many people really listen to Christian Talk? It seems like much of the same demographics as...

Re: Bell Media shutting down some stations including CKWW.

It'd stink if CKWW shut down. It has the most diverse playlist of all stations, and it's the closest thing to what the Big 8 was. I hope someone who likes oldies like Charlie buys it and keeps the big 8 legacy alive.

For being a country icon, Garth has always been very liberal. He played at Biden's inauguration, and his song "We Shall Be Free" is about equal rights for everyone. He'll be just fine.

I like this move as I enjoy listening to Duke FM when I'm in Lansing. I also see that they were able to get Randy Travis to launch the new format.

Re: Pile of shit Pat Robertson dies

He was always a strange guy to me, plus each show he'd end by saying "I want your money". The Disney-owned cable network, Freeform, formerly ABC Family, Fox Family, and the Family Channel, which Pat founded and required them to air the 700 Club, always had funny bumpers at the beginning saying they'...

Re: Paul W. Smith moving to middays + other changes at WJR

Paul W. said that the new show at 5 will be called "First Thing" and be hosted by Mike Parsons.

Nice for WJR to have an all-local lineup for most of the day. WSPD in Toledo just has 2 local talk shows during the day.

13ABC now branding as 13 Action News

Just noticed that WTVG's newscasts are now back to the old 13 Action News branding, omitting ABC. They also no longer have the ABC logo in their branding, with just the Circle 7 style 13 in their logo. I don't think any big changes are coming, but it piqued my interest.

It looks like in Toledo there's a 40% chance of storms on Sunday. It's been sunny here for a few weeks now, but today it's a bit overcast.

Re: Paul W. Smith moving to middays + other changes at WJR

I wonder if this means Paul may retire or go part-time in a few years. More Fill-in hosts in the morning and now him moving to middays in a shorter timeslot. I have a buddy of mine who knows Paul personally and will ask him about these changes. I also know there's a "Pre W. Smith show" that comes on...

Re: The Grand Prix is lame

As an Indycar fan, I always preferred the race at MIS over the Grand Prix. MIS races were always thrilling and exciting. I think they'll race in the city as long as Chevy remains a manufacturer as it's in the path of the RenCen.
