Re: CKWW

The time that CKWW was covering the Detroit area was more recent, like maybe 4 years ago to a year and a half ago.

Re: CKWW

When CKLW-FM entered the Oldies derby, they may have been the seventh station to jump in to the game. WOMC's 190kW signal, combined with the fact that they had been known to run a lot of oldies along with some current AC material, won the Oldies fray. If CIDR or CJOM were to go Oldies today, they wo...

Re: As the repack continues, TVFool still doesn't have an updated transmitter database. What's going to happen?

It hasn't been updated since January 2017. With the repack here, it would be wise to stop trusting it so much due to inaccuracy. Any alternatives, perhaps? Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk Incompetence through absence. Online TV program guide "TVTV.us", which I've been using for years, still gi...

Re: Album Rock WXYG AM 540

"The Goat" may not be that bad a name because texting has given the word a new meaning: "Greatest Of All Time". I heard someone at an NRC or WTFDA convention say that the FCC allows stations in Minnesota and Louisiana to use "K" or "W" call signs anywhere in those states. Don't know if that's true. ...

Going back to the old facilities is no option.
One former site is covered with stores, the other covered with Mcmansions.

Re: Catholic radio in Detroit

WDEO Ypsilanti comes in fine. If you really want another station, prying one of Crawford’s AM stations would be better than WJR. WCAR was indeed Catholic until Birach bought it. WDEO is unlistenable in Northern Macomb County, I hope that Cumulus sells WJR to a Catholic Broadcaster, That would be gr...

Re: More New Outdoor Antenna Options, And The TV Antenna With Red Light

The Televés antenna doesn't rotate. It originates in Europe, where every service is carried on a network of several transmitters and every broadcast tower carries all of the networks. They have no use for a rotator, since every station is from the same tower. If the US were like Europe, a resident o...

Re: 93.9 station "skip".

On my way to work from South Lyon to Howell @ 3:30 pm yesterday, I experienced E-skip on 104.3 and 106.7...combination of the heat, humidity, and atmospheric conditions. On my way back home, after the cold-front passed thru, reception on these 2 stations was back to normal, with no fluctuation what...

Re: 93.9 station "skip".

FM Broadcast Band signals don't skip from Ohio to Michigan. They "Trop". Such a signal carries in the troposphere, where the air is dense enough that any free ions will quickly reunite with atoms. Radio waves travel faster in dry air than they do in humid air, that causes the radio wave to bend alon...

Re: More New Outdoor Antenna Options, And The TV Antenna With Red Light

If you saw a very small red LED, Light grey case, and a yellow and black sticker on the underside, I'm guessing it's a Televés.

A really good antenna if space limited.

One disadvantage is that it is not designed for Low-VHF.

Re: 93.9 station "skip".

Not Lima. There was a FANTASTIC Sporadic-E skip opening today. You most likely heard a station from the Southern or Southeastern US. I heard several FM stations in a band from MS to CO, even 107.9 had several stations battling it out. When I arrived back home, I saw three TV stations that actually t...

Re: 103.7 WCKY

98.3 is taking the Nash Icon feed 24/7, no? Whatever music issues they had would be across-the-board. (And "flagship" WSM-FM outranks WKDF and WSIX in Nashville, so it's apparently working in Music City. Go figure.) WCKY is still a Tiffin/Findlay station because the transmitter was never moved in c...

Re: Nexstar in Flap With DIRECTV and AT&T-UVerse

How did TV stations who get their licenses from the FCC get to charge cable, streaming or satellite services for carrying their signal when anyone in the stations broadcast radius can get it over the air with an antenna? Are the rebroadcast entities inserting their own commercials? The local TV sta...

Re: The atrocity known as AM HD radio

That goes back to the overall failure of whatever PR campaigns have been used for HD Radio. When iBiquity owned the whole setup and had the patent claims to the IBOC standard, they initially had Clear Channel, CBS, Citadel and a few other groups run PSAs for HD Radio as often as possible. That only...
