Re: Cumulus stunner - two heritage Hot AC stations in major markets SOLD (note: WDVD not involved)

The Cumulus of today is trying to undo the sins of Lew and John Dickey and find stable footing financially. The biggest sins were (outside of their purchase of WestwoodOne) their merger with Citadel and the “Nash” concept. John Dickey talked up Nash to the point of annoyance using weasel words like ...

Don't hold your breath waiting for that to happen. I believe that 98.3 is going to stay committed to being a Monroe focussed station, whatever the format.
Yeah, whatever happens with 98.3, you’re gonna be disappointed.

Re: 100.7 Toledo line up change

A shame for such a station with the history of WABC. I guess they're still making money with all those infomercials, even if nobody is listening to them anymore. Otherwise, what can you do with an old AM station that mainly targets people who remember it as a music station. And a station that not o...

Re: Gray/Raycom deal officially done, WTOL now a Tegna station

Someone please tell me that Gray won't put CBS on 13.2 beside ABC on 13.1 (see KVLY -only they added CBS to NBC in that case), and leave WTOL as a big pack of 480i subchannels (see KXJB). Gray cleanly sold off WTOL and the SSA of WUPW. The intellectual properties of both stations are under the cont...

Re: WLEC 1450 Sandusky signal weak?

The translator appears to be going on the same tower that WCPZ built a few years ago. Its 60dBu contour will include Norwalk and parts of Sandusky (both downtown and Cedar Point fall outside of the contour) That’s a puzzlement, unless they intend to run the signal in mono (they could, it being adul...

Re: Could a Breeze Format make it in Toledo?

As much of a dog as Nash and Nash Icon are, they are clearly being drawn down on a market-by-market basis. Which is a good thing, those two brands were forced upon by the Dickey’s with no understanding of it would actually work as a brand. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised to see 98.3 go to a “WARM-...

Re: WEGE/THE EAGLE LIMA ADDS BOB AND TOM

I don’t think Shane French has updated his “Rover” Stern knockoff act at any point over the past 15 years. He’s only added affiliates of late because they’ve been dropping Bob&Tom (outside of heritage iHeart-owned affiliates like WIOT, which have carried B&T since the late 1990s).

Re: 100.7 Toledo line up change

Not sure if this is accurate, but I heard that as of tomorrow February 4, Savage is podcast only and is no longer syndicated via terrestrial radio. He’s still listed on Westwood One’s website, but to be blunt, what conservative talk station would want to carry a one-hour show where a three-hour sho...

Re: WLEC 1450 Sandusky signal weak?

WLEC has a translator CP at 93.5 that was granted 2-3 months ago, AFAIK, it’s still being built... but at the US 250/Ohio Turnpike interchange... not at the Quonset Hut.

Who knows if the copper ground system at WLEC is up to par after 72 years?

Re: CFZM Zoomer Radio 740

Moses Znamier is a legendary media tycoon and can afford to run 740 the way it is. I can't imagine it's that profitable, with an audience whose demos no ad agency in their right mind would ever want to pursue.

This is what you'll soon be seeing on WTOL: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11eKCc9rrOE The music package is “C Clarity” by Sixième Son... you either love it or hate it. And yes, they saved on the budget for vowels with the “NXT” teasers. Graphics aren't that bad... the 2012 graphics package Gannett...

Re: Sports radio in Toledo

If 1230 would have ever made any impact, it would have been in the mid-late 2000s, but a brokered smooth jazz show (in morning drive!) and a simulcast of Denny's webcast clogged up the 6a-12p hours. And didn't they have a brokered host in mornings before that who got into loads of trouble and gave t...

Re: Toledo radio Predictions for 2019

That 106.5 in the trust and presumably programmed independently from Cumulus proper was apparently more than enough for the bankruptcy courts. Remember that last December, iHeart placed an AM station in Boston and two rimshot FMs in Seattle into a trust in order to acquire stations spun off from CBS...

Re: Toledo radio Predictions for 2019

I’ll buck most conventional wisdom and say that 106.5 will remain in the divestiture trust through all of 2019. If you look at the Last Bastion Station Trust or all of the trusts iHeart has set up, they can last indefinitely... in the case of Last Bastion, 12 years and counting. As for replacing Sco...
