Re: WDBC playlist shift - back to MOR/Standards?
Regardless, I'm glad they don't play Maroon 5 anymore!

Re: WDBC playlist shift - back to MOR/Standards?
That playlist is pretty much like what America's Best Music airs now give or take a few songs. They've cut back on pre-'70s music even more than they already had. If it's not a complete 180 to what it was pre-2019, that's because the Adult Standards format has moved ahead musically during those four...

Re: WDBC playlist shift - back to MOR/Standards?
That's the first I've heard of it. Probably explains the music shift.

WDBC playlist shift - back to MOR/Standards?
Sounds to me, from listening during my trip up north yesterday, that 680/94.5 WDBC has shifted its music back to Adult Standards (the modernized version centered in the '70s, similar to the America's Best Music format they had before), but are still using liners suggesting a Soft AC format (i.e. "to...

Re: Bacharach dies
I was up north yesterday and heard that song played on 680 WDBC. The funny thing is: it was written in the early '60s and first recorded by, of all people, Richard Chamberlain. Karen and Richard would later record a Bacharach/David medley for their 1971 album "Carpenters," comprising many songs of t...

Re: Bridge Radio 96.7
This is a bit different from "elevator music" though. It's literally the original recording with the vocal removed, not a re-recording by Mantovani or some anonymous European orchestra. Kinda like when you'd buy a CD single back in the day and the record company would include what they sometimes cal...

Re: Bridge Radio 96.7
Well, it's now February and I still can't figure out what this thing is supposed to be. They're now airing continuous instrumental music, but it's not orchestral "beautiful music," it's like karaoke versions of mellow rock songs with the original instrumental track without vocal. Some of the tracks ...

Re: Z93
Looks like sort of a cross between WDVD and 105-1 The Bounce. Listeners who grew up with 106.7 The Peak in the '90s should appreciate this.

Re: Congrats to Stacks 92.1
Did some research and pinned down the date for the changeover from WXMX (Smooth Jazz/NAC) to The Edge as May 7, 1993. WXMX probably lasted about a year, a year and a half, and was not a ratings success. I believe the second try at SJ/NAC (on 92.7 - later 92.9 - WJZL) used the Jones Radio Network SJ ...

Where in the world are they getting that owner information? Wesleyan? Maga Radio Network? Looks like they pasted the station info into a template and forgot to change the owner names.

Re: Congrats to Stacks 92.1
I believe it was Chuck Dees who took WLNZ from AOR to CHR in 1988 or so, dropping "Lazer" in favor of "Digital Hit Radio, Z92" with (it appears) a fully automated presentation. I found this blurb in the August '88 issue of Radio World on WorldRadioHistory.com: "Let's see... there's the station that ...

Re: WDEO 990 night testing?
Speaking of WDEO, the 107.9 translator in Scio Township (which formerly relayed Home.FM) is back on the air. They seem to be receiving AM 990 directly off the air, because at night when I null out WCRZ, I hear loud static and hints of another station which I assume is CBW. 107.9's tower is located s...

Re: RIP The Edge (for the third time)
Yep, it was probably a very smart idea to go with something that wouldn't hurt WKFR as much as an AC format might have.

Re: RIP The Edge (for the third time)
Frankly I'm surprised The Edge lasted this long. I would have thought 104.9 might try AC again since WVFM is no longer in the format, but on second thought that might cannibalize WKFR's older demos to some extent. Perhaps a Breeze-style Soft AC could have worked. I agree Urban AC/Adult R&B is a good...
