Re: Terri DeBoer retiring from WOOD-TV

And the trifecta of long-time meteorologists retiring at NexStar owned stations will soon complete. Tom Skilling has announced he will retire at the end of February 2024 from WGN Channel 9 in Chicago after 45 years at the station. I can't be the only one who, before WGN split the local and national ...

Re: WOOD TV8 names Tom Hillen new co-host of eightWest

Just like Fox17's Morning Mix is pay to play copied 8 West, WZZM canceled their pay to play show even know they said it would return once COVID was under control never did. And put Access Daily in its place along with 2 more EPs of Judge Judy making it 4 EPs in a day. Catherine Behrendt hosts the i...

Re: Media at Art Prize and other events

I thought it was after the Riots they stops. Maybe it was-that timeframe is kind of a blur. The shutdown began in mid March 2020 and the riots were two and half months later at the end of May. Due to my employer being a supplier to essential industries, we did not shut down so I did not have a chan...

Re: Media at Art Prize and other events

Didn't News 8 At Noon broadcast year round from the GRAM at one point? Guessing this was ended due to Covid when museums were closed and never resumed.

Re: Terri DeBoer retiring from WOOD-TV

Jim Geyer at WLNS is also retiring today. Something tells me there was some sort of incentive (positive or negative) for him and Terri to "retire". Wouldn't be surprised. Both being NexStar owned, they would "job share" one person between two stations either physically or virtually like how Fox17 d...

What significance is the date of 9-7-23?
Two guesses:
9-7 => 97 as in 97 WLAV
Being that this is the year of WLAV's 50th anniversary, I wonder if Sept 7 1973 is when the rock format debuted at 96.9?

Lauren Edwards leaving Fox17

At the end of the 6pm hour, it was announced Lauren Edwards was leaving WXMI and moving home to Chicago. While a quick check of Scripps website does not list any Scripps stations in the state of Illinois, her closing comments made it sound like a former news director called her up. This has me wonde...

Re: Fox 17 morning news expanding

was about to post the new set's debut as well. It has alot of similar features as WOOD. Curious who designed each station's set. I have noticed so far with the new set that Fox17 is no longer having reporters in the control room nor are the meteorologists reporting from the weather center in the bac...

Re: Fox 17 morning news expanding

Starting to wonder if anyone at Fox17's traffic department has any brain activity. (by "Traffic", I am not referring to Robb Westaby's primary reporting area, but the scheduling people). Just before today (Sept 17)'s Detroit Lions telecast, I saw a promo for Drew Barrymore that stated "moving to 11a...

Re: 94.5 KLQ in the late 1990s

I know around that time the principal of Zeeland High School suspended a student for wearing a Korn t-shirt to school. Not sure if this had any part of what you are referring to or not with KLQ. (I may have the year wrong-I only remember that it was in the 1995-2000 time frame)

Re: Updated ratings!

A couple of years ago I had mentioned that the format at KDRB in Des Moines would be an option for West Michigan. I know that since I mentioned this they have taken 106.5 in Kalamazoo to a jack FM format. So, would this still be an option for let’s say 96.1? “ you’re riding the BUS down I 96” From ...

Surprised they didn't borrow someone from WLNS like how Blake originally appeared on WOOD.

Re: Fox 17 morning news expanding

Along with the time shift for Morning News also appears to come the elimination of Midday News and Unfiltered. But new is a half hour Scripps News Live at 1pm (going against NBC News Daily). If Unfiltered is counted as news, 17 has eliminated 2 hours of local news and added one. Honestly wouldn't be...

Re: Fox 17 Loses Anchor to WXYZ

Ruta said she is from Detroit so I cannot blame her for moving home. Detroit is where her family settled after leaving Lithuania. WXYZ, like WXMI, is a Scripps owned station so some of her reports may air on Fox17 like two Fox17 alumni now working at WXYZ: Darren Cunningham and Sarah Grimmer w(now k...
