Re: WPAY

One problem, and it's no surprise, WPAY has a programming issue, it's paid religion. Is it not? It's a very small niche of the program spectrum. And, there are literally hundreds of stations. Not exactly mass appeal! WPAY is a high-band AM in a market that has almost entirely abandoned the band for...

Re: WPAY

Any word, if WPAY has been bought, yet? Nothing so far. It's telling that EMF has been unable to unload it while every other AM station they've had to buy (as a throwaway with an FM purchase) have quickly been disposed of. They seriously don't want AM signals, and presumably have had it on the bloc...

EAS Test oops?

From one of my friends, who monitors EAS alters and tests from all over as a hobby: WWJ was supposed to have issued this months' EAS test for the Detroit region, alternating responsibility with WJR (and the Michigan State Police in Lansing, who issue tests twice a year)... but it didn't happen this ...

Re: I want to compliment someone who doesn't receive nearly enough kudos on here...

Is there anyone else in TV as an on air news talent with similar longevity at one station? Dorothy Fuldheim had a very long career as a newspaper writer before embarking on a 37 year run at WEWS Channel 5 when it signed on, ultimately retiring in her early 90s. Dick Goddard was WJW Channel 8's chie...

Re: WPAY

hmmm? Just weird they ditched K-love classics and put UFT talk back on for like a week and then now airing American Family radio. Unless they are possibly planning on selling the station to AFA. I've mentioned this before but why don't they swap with family radio? Move Family radio to 1520 and put ...

Re: Breaking: Nexstar reaches agreement to purchase Tribune

From FTLive that the Nexstar & Tribune merger could be approved any day now. I also read from Plaine-Dealer that Nexstar wants to keep WJW but Fox wants it back again so some TV stations could still be in limbo after the merger I say Nexstar should sell the TV stations that Fox wants if they want W...

Re: Big changes in just released June ratings survey; WJR hits all-time record low

For evenings, bring back the one-hour "WJR SportsWrap at 7pm. Followed by Warren Pierce, Hal Youngblood, or David Newman from 8p to 11p. Followed by the "WJR News Final" at 11pm. and end the evening with the 11:15 "WJR Sports Final" with Bob Page, Paul Carey, or Bob Reynolds. Now, that's great radi...

Re: Big changes in just released June ratings survey; WJR hits all-time record low

Levin hasn’t changed one bit of his “old man hyperventilating at a cloud” routine over the past decade. It’s old, tired and boring. It’s so predictable that you don’t even need to tune in, you can easily guess what he’ll say. He’s also one of the few other top-tier hosts in the format, which does a ...

Bell media's radio division has run that station to shit.
Bell Windsor is a total afterthought, and hobbled since they abandoned any targeting in the Detroit market.

Do they still pour resources into CKLW? I haven't listened to that station in forever.

Re: Big changes in just released June ratings survey; WJR hits all-time record low

If WDTK really wanted to be something, they would swap formats with WLQV. I don’t see it happening. It'll never happen. Christian talk/preaching is their #1 core format, and WLQV has the best AM signal. WDTK could upgrade if Salem were to buy another AM signal (which recently happened in Washington...

Re: Geraldo on WTAM

Is he syndicated? I doubt it. It’s called Geraldo in Cleveland and the number given is WTAM’s. All of the callers are from the Cleveland area. Why only one hour though? Is that all he wants to do, or is the station forced to carry Glenn Beck? Geraldo does do a weekly podcast for iHeartRadio indepen...

Re: Big changes in just released June ratings survey; WJR hits all-time record low

Hey, I would love to hear Jim Bohannon in Detroit. He skews slightly to the right. But, he has a newsman's sense of fairness. On my way home at night, I have to listen to him on KDKA, which fades in and out. Strangely, I don't ever recall Bohannon being cleared in Detroit. I wonder why? I remember ...
