Re: Big News regarding ESPN 1000, Chicago
The dumbasses at Good Karma below up a moderately successful country station with a 4 share in favor of an All Sports format at 94.5 FM in Milwaukee that now grabs around a 0.7 share. :lol All five all-sports stations do badly in the 12+ glorified beauty pageant demo. Doesn’t mean they are losing m...

Re: Big News regarding ESPN 1000, Chicago
I am very familiar with their Cleveland station. Curious as to what changes they will make. They’ll charge $10.00 a month for podcasts no one wants and install friends of Craig K. in management positions regardless of the qualifications or lack thereof (*cough* Aaron Goldhammer *cough*). WSCR has t...

Re: WDRV now #1 in Chicago
WXRT has always been a great station in Chicago, it’s to bad no one in Detroit can do a format like WXRT, it could do well. The River 93.9 had the opportunity to do something like that but never really caught on to what a AAA formatted station should actually sound like. It's a legacy brand that wa...

Re: CBSDetroit62
WGPR radio's founder, Ross Mulholland, put it on the air in '61, and the callsign was chosen to signify "Grosse Pointe Radio," as its offices and origination studio were indeed in Grosse Pointe. If I'm not mistaken, it may have been the first station in the market to broadcast in stereo. For those ...

Re: Why Would Local Media Sit On A Story?
It is unethical for news agencies to report suicides and identify victims of sexual assault. Therefore if it is believed to be a suicide then no newsroom will waste resources on it, especially on a weekend with skeleton crews. That is 100% what I've heard in the past. I'm wondering why 4 was even t...

Not why, (life's not fair, that's why) but how... A good lawyer can make problems disappear. Henderson has been working on a move in since he bought the stations. Do you think someone who has spent as much as he has on legal fees can't afford to fix his transmitters? He's a horrible business man bu...

Re: Now we know where WQAN was broadcasting from!
He made a "donation" of $50,000 and lost his CP over the 95.9 license over a decade ago. But that was a result of filing false paperwork to meet a deadline. When he started using STL frequencies licensed to Interlochen, there was no penalty. In this case, he didn't mislead the fcc, he just started ...

Has there been a response to the violation? A STA application can't be the only response. This is a lack of candor issue. It's going to take awhile for the hammer to finally come down, but it will. Roy/Blarney lied to the FCC with the unauthorized transmissions, and you just cannot lie to the FCC. ...

Re: Another horrendous book for Q105
I have to ask, and this is serious: of what value are the WWWM calls to the Toledo market? Or WLQR? I really don’t think anyone is itching to bring “3WM” back to the market so it’s parking on “Love 105” is quite unnecessary. Even with diaries, call letters shouldn’t be necessary when logging statio...

Re: Uncensored music on 94.5 WXKR
For decades, WMMS played Funkadelic’s Maggot Brain at 1:30am on Sunday morning. Then WNCX picked up on that tradition in the late 1980s, playing it at 11:50pm every Saturday night, which continues to this day. Not one complaint has or had ever been lodged against either station for the big ol’ S-bom...

Well, this just crossed the wires... Toledo is going to be one of 45 markets to be flipped over to Nielsen’s monthly diary standard.
So no more quarterlies.

Re: Another horrendous book for Q105
Why was WJLB counted in the 6+? Usually stations in adjacent markets don't get counted, you don't see Cleveland stations in the Akron book and vice versa. The problem for 105.5 isn't in the 6+ or 12+ we see... I betcha they're getting beat by KISS pretty badly in the key demo. Fact of the matter is,...
