Re: Worst-sounding radio stations of all-time.

102.5 WIOG during first decade of the 2000s. They sped their music up by as much as 6 percent and the bass was very distorted (had a distinct sound that I can't describe). For a brief time afterwards they sounded much better, though today I note that they are once again way over-processed. 760 WJR ...

Re: How does Nielsen work

I'll be happy to answer this, as we just mailed back our diaries for the 6 days after the election. About a month ago, we received a letter in the mail from Nielsen, stating that we've been selected to participate in radio ratings for our market. The letter included $2 in CASH. If I remember correct...

Re: Worst-sounding radio stations of all-time.

WCHW FM Bay City Central high school (91.3) late 70's through the 90's because it was in MONO. Not only was it in mono, but audio was fed from a Gatesway II console to a CBS Labs Volumax, then to a Dorrough DAP 310. The Gateway II often had leaking caps, "steps" in its pots, and was rotting away fa...

Re: 09/26-27 Tropo

I wonder if this was affecting VHF as well? I was getting some strange (spanish?) speaking conversations on Coast Guard 21A channel on my scanner the past few days. Now, we do have a foreign (European) ship docked in port in Bay City; so it's a possibility it was that. However, the Coast Guard never...

5G Stuff

So, I've been hearing some acquaintances talking about the 5G rollout. Apparently in the midst of everything COVID-19, there's some 5G something or other going on. I completely missed whatever this is about. I know there's a whole thing about 5G being dangerous (seems as though everyone's touting th...

Re: Wifi Slow Down Due To Increased Home Use

RDP session are typically about 24kbytes per second. Unless you're transferring a file between local and RDP session, it's likely NOT VPN and RDP causing your slowdown. PPS (packets per second) on RDP are higher than a streaming service - so overall performance of a WiFi access point (CPU, RAM) coul...

Re: Gray(WILX) purchases WLNM-LD

The TCT studios of WAQP in Saginaw have been a ghost town for a few years now. Still a for sale sign out front, and a vehicle is there once every week or so. The STL tower still stands.

Re: Rescan WEYI 25

Statman... Thank you for this info! I had looked into some of this as well, since the repacked stations did file for STA as well as CPs for their new allotments. Reading over some technical info submitted by WNEM, it looks like they were going to temporarily run on a side-mounted HPOL antenna, while...

Re: Rescan WEYI 25

How is everyone's signal after the repack? The stations that had to flip (5, 25, 46, 49 (though don't really care about 49)) all have far less signal strength/quality than before, despite power increases. Power increases had to occur due to the final repack stage to be a polarization switch to elipt...

Re: SCREW YOU! I’M KEEPING YOU SAFE!!!

I enjoy the severe weather coverage. When I see there is a storm outbreak I go to that markets TV station website and watch their coverage for hours and hours. Last night I was watching coverage from Kansas City from their local CBS affiliate. Good stuff! You might be the only one. He's not. I do t...

Do they still make XAP? I've only used the WA plug in. IIRC, the XAP wasn't free but the plug-in was?
I'm don't believe it is still in Development. IIRC, the developer now designs processors for a broadcast brand.

I will PM you a link.

Re: Free radio automation software

You don't need to be an SQL expert, and using MySQL is completely free. I run 3 instances of RadioDJ; two instances connected to one database, and another instance connected to a different database on the same database server (wife's playlist). Ed...awesome to hear you're using Sound Solution! I'm r...

Thanks. Looks like this is meant to be a vertical antenna. Have you ever tried it horizontal?
I've not.

Re: Looking for antenna advice

Apologies; here's the main link: http://bobbyromeo.com/diy/make-your-own-uhf-hdtv-antenna/ Feedpoint is at the first bend from the bottom, where the distance between is 2"; you connect a 75/300ohm balun there. I have the "face" of mine pointing south (so, if looking at the pic, the left side element...
