Re: Cumulus stunner - two heritage Hot AC stations in major markets SOLD (note: WDVD not involved)
Two things. WDKL has a CP for a Royal Oak Township facility. Other than the people here who think that WWWW 102.9 should be receivable throughout the whole Market, it would be an improvement for WDKL for most of the Market. WWWW 102.9 was always supposed to be an Ann Arbor station. The call letters ...

Re: Greta Van Fleet wins Grammy
They gave up a solid Accordion and Clarinet Ensemble and a sure permanent gig at the Bavarian Inn for THIS? Oh well, I guess if the Rock gig doesn't last, they could go back. They probably aren't holding the position open for them, though. Maybe Weird Al will make a parody of one of their songs on A...

Re: Autocorrect
Does anyone else's autocorrect try to invent fake words or is it just my phone? Lol No, autocorrect has passed its prime and is headed steeply downhill. That's because the autocorrect assumes you are a teenage girl typing with two thumbs a mile a minute, and the words they are likely to use and mis...

Re: Can't Get WJBK Off-Air in SW Detroit
It's always been confusing, because the Canadian Regulators ALWAYS have specified the AVERAGE ERP for DAs, not the PEAK ERP. I could never understand until fairly recently why they said 325 kW ERP for the Sign On and Sign Off of Analog Channel 9, and WRTH showed 178 kW ERP. The FCC has always specif...

Here's a gem of a link about FM antennas by Michael Salvati in Audio from 1978, though I couldn't find his MATV CATV book links.

RE: ... Who would have believed 50 years ago that the FCC could convince VHF broadcasters that UHF was better? Yes, if you handicap VHF with low ERP and a typically inefficient VHF antenna. ... Just to note that the FCC authorized higher ERPs for analog TV stations using Ch 7-13 (316 kW) and Ch 14 ...

Many name references. Many pictures. Listen for Aretha. Look for Uncle Lawrence of Chicago. Look for the amateur radio operator with the callsign W2JOF. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15wq1Yg_Ac4 If you see anyone else you recognize in the video, please ID them with the time seen. Mike Austerman Was Just Interviewed On Local 4
Mike Austerman was just on WDIV-TV Channel 4. He was being interviewed (~6:08 PM EST) about later starting times in Utica Schools. In case any of you youngsters don't remember, Mike started Michiguide, which had an early Michigan Broadcasting Message Board. He passed the torch to MW, when he stopped...

Re: Interference @ 103.1 MHz in northern Oakland County
Well, today W300DI sounds undistorted, but the signal still seems too strong for 85 watts maximum in any direction. Couldn't the FCC have anticipated what would happen with these translators, like the Class D AMs with 50 kW Day and 20 watts nondirectional Nights? Are they still too busy busting CBer...

Re: Interference @ 103.1 MHz in northern Oakland County
Listened again to WDTW 1310 translator on 107.9. I can hear audio distortion which may be attributable to overmodulation. But does it sound LOUD. If thats all you care about is loud. I could barely tell there was allowed cochannel interference from WCRZ. There were so many sidebands they covered up ...

Re: Interference @ 103.1 MHz in northern Oakland County
The terrain toward Flint and Burton from Owosso is a lot flatter than the terrain between Yates and Lapeer. I was in Romeo today and was hearing Yates on 103.1. The Buick loaner had a memory on 103.1. A lot of the employees live toward Imlay City though and listen near their homes. That started befo...

Re: Interference @ 103.1 MHz in northern Oakland County
WQUS has about the worst interference situation of any station in SE MI. The worst situation is the WOAP Owosso W276CZ Translator. There was nearly always the CBEF-1-FM Leamington repeater. Then theres the WUFL Translator W276DB near Yates. Then there's the CP for the WFDF Translator. Have I missed ...
