Re: Sinclair called out

Sinclair’s contention that the National Desk broadcasts are a suitable replacement for local newscasts is flat out lying. If there is a major storm, a local election, a scandal at city hall, another Flint Water Crisis, etc. Sinclair will have no local journalists in these markets. You can’t cover n...

Re: More layoffs going down at Sinclair Stations including Flint

I don't know, MasterB. The FCC isn't exactly fond of Sinclair, from a few things I've read over the past five or so years

Re: More layoffs going down at Sinclair Stations including Flint

And I'm going the chorus and saying that sadly WEYI/WSMH will be next on the hit list with either their newscast farmed out to K-ZOO or totally replaced by TND. the same fate will be hitting WGTU/WGTQ with them doing TND . But,a question arises, is iit just me, or is Sinclair hitting the small stat...

Re: Free pay channel previews

Sometimes the electronic switching gear would get messed up - sometimes due to a power outage - and it would switch in the adult programming in an unscrambled mode, so anyone viewing that channel at the time would be able to view it "in the clear". There were complaints though. I probably still hav...

That's really cool! First newscast I've seen from a local station before the 70s!

Re: I guess local TV stations no longer broadcast weather warnings?

The radar signature was not nearly as prolific as the Wyoming / Kentwood tornado where the NWS office in GR completely dropped the ball several years ago (I want to say that happened in August 2016 or August 2017). That cell produced a 0.25 mile wide funnel, moved across US 131, and barely missed a...

Who was that goofy guy that did the wx updates for AccuWeather?
Jim Kosek - I guess he used to be straightfaced in his early days at AccuWeather until the 90s. Then turned into the 'goofy' personality that he is/was. I think he is retired now.

Re: Hmmm,is the news drought at CBS62 about to come to an end?

Ahmad was amazing at 25. He put the other Mid-Michigan stations to shame. I'm wondering if his hands are tied at 62 or maybe staffing issues? But nonetheless they need more work in the weather department. Quite possible. And I agree with you 100%. Shame they don't have the "standard" weather depart...

Re: CMT

Bedford Cable had that exact screen for the local forecast and I remember going to see family in South Carolina, same thing. However, my at my Grandparents house in Toledo, they had more of an updated local forecast screen with maps and everything. TCI in Northern MI also. I believe that screen is ...

Re: Hmmm,is the news drought at CBS62 about to come to an end?

There is NO excuse for not having severe weather coverage, warnings, cut-ins, crawls, maps, etc. Total embarrassment for a channel that claims they are around the clock. That is quite sad, considering how Ahmad handled weather at 25. I remember his first kid was born, and he was at the station thre...
