Re: Marquette's 94.9 97.1 and 107.7

It finally, finally hit me today about what I can't handle about Q107. The current music is basically, to me, Hot AC. It's the old songs! The gold played is all over the road, the "instant requests" don't fit the format (1970s, 1980s stuff) and while Q107 will not play a current rock song, if any ar...

Re: U.P. stations I miss

I wrote the original post.

Was 1300 WLOT ever in Top 40 competition with 1340 WAGN? I seem to remember WAGN with a "Music Power" jingle or survey. Thank you!

Re: Grundig Sattelit 750

Perpendicular to loop. The loop on top of radio rotates and the Terk loop sits on top of radio to left of loop, atop Grundig letters. One works off the other. The radio is excellent by itself, but this set up really enhances to where you tweak one antenna off the other. Like I say, it was all by acc...

Re: Grundig Sattelit 750

I've had my Grundig for years. Bought mine in Milwaukee at Amatuer Electonics (aesham.com) for $299. By accident, I put my Terk AM1000 loop on top of the Grundig. (Sideways above Grundig letters) and the effects are AMazing! I'll turn to loop on top of the Grundig. Then I can tune the AM1000 and act...

<<Does anyone know what's going on with AM 930 in Battle Creek? The station went silent at the start of July for transmitter maintenance that was supposed to last 30-90 days according to an FCC filing in July.>>

Anything on this from anywhere? Way over 90 days. Almost February.

Re: 3-WJMN and Charter to end on soon.

Jan 5, WJMN is on Charter Cable. I do not know if it was ever off of Charter. There was a dispute between the two.

Re: Legal IDs at sign on, sign off

Thank you again. 27 minutes after the hour is what I meant. So they ID at 3pm, then not again til 4:27, then maybe 5:13 on the next newscast. This is day after day. The FM suffix is never ever used in the station I'm thinking of. On top of that, there's a translator for the AM, so there's two statio...

Re: Legal IDs at sign on, sign off

Thank you for the answers. I am a dx'er for 45+ years. Never been in radio. Years ago I certainly can rember "this concludes this test of the Emergency Broadcast System" Jock "WOKY Milwaukee" "WOKY" TM shotgun. Or "WBBM Chicago" into sweeper, news. Last night a station signed off with music. Open Ca...

Legal IDs at sign on, sign off

Question: If a station signs off or signs on aren't they supposed to say the stations call & location (legal ID)? IE:"WZZZ,Luckyburg" .... or at sign off, the last thing is "WZZZ,Luckyburg"? If a station is knocked off by lightning and comes on 20 minutes later, etc..... It's unbelievable how many s...

3-WJMN and Charter to end on soon.

WJMN airing announcements that there's problems between the two. Prompted to get Dish, etc....

I've heard of disputes before and they usually get ironed out. It's I guess, who blinks first.

Where does the must carry rule come in?

Re: New Marquette radio stations....

Along Hwy 45 to Ontonagon and to Houghton and Calumet, "97-5 GTO" was heard! Certainly not booming in, but it was there! Also noticed the "97-5" vs "1400" mention. Really a listenable station vs the other stuff around.

Re: New Marquette radio stations....

One thing I know for sure. It comes in on 95 just North of Iron Mountain. Noted in Covington. My guess is Munising gets the 97.5 as well. Pretty good for 10 watts! ;) The GTO format is certainly more uptempo/peppy than other stuff. The TOC went mostly 70s after a while and hearing one jock 24/7....c...

Re: New Marquette radio stations....

So how many HD radios are in the UP? 3? ;)

Also, do 1400 WQXO and 1490 WTIQ compete in any way (as a second market, meaning Munising-Manistique?)

Re: New Marquette radio stations....

My "vote" would be "97-FIVE (W)Q-X-O" Sunny 101.9 is now Sunny FM. Extreme Country 103 is now "103 FXD" (and I remember Fox 103") and co-owned 98.3 was, of course, "QXO" went WHCH "Hot Country WHCH, and later/now as 98-3 WRUP (simulcast on 92.7.) Stability is WJPD, 95.7FM, Magic 97 (though as I said...
