Yep, he substituted for King for years. Then, he inherited the job. Hail! The Mutual Broadcasting System! "The feeling is Mutual."

Re: Local Radio Newscasts - Terrible!

Last week, in the local paper, News or Free Press, there was an article about the late Lee Iacocca. There was a picture attached to the article, showing Iacocca speaking to the press. Ven Marshall was on reporter holding a Circle 7 microphone. The other microphone was a WCXI radio mike. Two things: ...

Re: Big changes in just released June ratings survey; WJR hits all-time record low

Hey, I would love to hear Jim Bohannon in Detroit. He skews slightly to the right. But, he has a newsman's sense of fairness. On my way home at night, I have to listen to him on KDKA, which fades in and out. Strangely, I don't ever recall Bohannon being cleared in Detroit. I wonder why?

Re: 106.5 Toledo

Regarding 98.3, I worked there, briefly back in the mid-80s, and it was a tough sell. Monroe is caught between Detroit and Toledo. Back then, Monroe-based businesses didn't support the station very well. The decision makers didn't understand or use radio. They would advertise in the Monroe newspaper...

Re: Lima's 940 WCIT Drops Sports

I used to listen to WCIT back in the late 70s and early 80s. It was Top 40 and a joke. WCIT was a daytimer with no pre-or post sunrise authority. I believe they had a horrible automation system, and was almost laughable. The FM was beautiful music. The owner thought he was a big-shot, and was cluele...

Re: ABC News Bureau Inside Of WXYZ Broadcast House

On a related note, an ABC Radio Network Newscast morning report, originating from Broadcast House, exists on YouTube. It aired during 1967 Detroit riots. It's an on-air piece recorded off of WXYZ Radio, also an ABC O&O. It features long-time WXYZ talent.

Re: Ron Cameron In One Word:

I can't remember Ron ever talking about politics. Obviously, he's on WDTK because broadcast time is less expensive on that station, NOT his political beliefs. Personally, I think WDFN should give him a show, or at least bargain rates for contract time. He would give WDFN what they need, LOCAL conten...

Re: Mike Duggan files for divorce

Personally, I don't care about the Mayor's personal life. But, Duggan has gotten more done for the city than any other politician has done in my lifetime. And, I have been following Detroit politics for nearly 50 years. His time in office is far from perfect, but look back with what he had to work w...

Re: Ron Cameron In One Word:

Cowboy, you're one of my favs! And, I heard you talk to Regan that day. I remember him on the Cubs., etc. My grandmother lived in west-central Indiana and didn't own a TV set. So, when we went to visit her, I would listen to the games on WGN in my father's car. Of course, they were always day games ...
