Re: Eddie Money dies

Saw him a couple of times, both in Traverse City (once at the front entrance of Turtle Creek Casino on New Year's Eve and the other time with Night Ranger at the Northwestern Michigan Fairgrounds). He played Pine Knob/DTE many times, as recently as this Memorial Day weekend, which either was his ver...

Re: Comcast Removing Detroit and Lansing Channels

Were any of these stations sometimes blocked, due to the FCC's "Network Non-Duplication and Syndicated Exclusivity" rules? Definitely not 23, which is affiliated with PBS. No doubt WKAR won't be pleased with Comcast's actions, as it means less pledges. I don't think the FCC rules apply to noncommer...

Overall, it would be a tough decision. Even for certain genres, it would still be tough

Re: Most Dangerous Roads In Michigan

Making a shoulder into a temporary lane is just plain stupid! Agreed!!! I'm trying to figure out what's worse: - The toggle lane feature of US-23 - The roundabouts at the Green Oak Village Place exit off US-23. That isn't even the worst part of US-23. IMHO, the stretch on the east side of Ann Arbor...

WBFX IBOC off

Yesterday afternoon, I noticed WBFX had their IBOC off. Near the airport, I was getting two stations on 101.5: -a station playing Survivor's "Eye of the Tiger" (likely one of the Eagles) mixing with -WNSN from South Bend, IN (which has a playlist on their website that did not have Eye of the Tiger o...

Re: Old cable lineups

Here's the cable lineup for Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario in December of '89: (3) WNEM Bay City (NBC) ... (30) Home Shopping Interestingly, neither of northern Michigan's ABC or NBC affiliates were apprently carried in the Sault then. I once asked a headend engineer there why WTOM and WGTQ weren't on t...

The state of morning radio is in worse shape than I thought if this guy gets high numbers.
I'd wager that he probably ain't gonna get high numbers. :blink

It's WLDR, after all!
101.9 hasn't had good ratings since it flipped to country (early 2000s?)

Re: What's Finster doing these days?

From experience, I've picked up the 104.5 from Eau Claire, WI (WAXX Country) more in Manistee than Bob FM!
Note: WAXX has the largest 60dBu coverage area of any station in the Great Lakes region (even larger than WBCT!)

Re: Manistee, MI through the years

July 1988 2 - WBAY (CBS 2 Green Bay) ... January 1990 had the exact same lineup, which meant Manistee (and Ludington) missed the first few years of FOX as they never picked up WKBD, not even briefly in the late 1980s before WGKI came on (WGKI appears to have replaced WLUK in Manistee sometime betwe...

Re: Big News regarding ESPN 1000, Chicago

The dumbasses at Good Karma below up a moderately successful country station with a 4 share in favor of an All Sports format at 94.5 FM in Milwaukee that now grabs around a 0.7 share. :lol To be fair though, there were already three other country stations with signals in Milwaukee. WTKM in Hartford...

Re: 600-mile lake tropo (8/24)

The most impressive is getting KBGY around WCCW and WDUZ 107.5 looked like this pretty much all evening: WCCW / 40dBµ, stereo / local WCCN / 20dBµ, mono in easy null KBGY / 20dBµ, mono still in rather easy null No sign of WDUZ, which is 100 miles away and much lower power than WCCN, though WDUZ at ...

Re: Lodging/hospital cable lineups

I’m in a hotel in New Buffalo right now, and they have the South Bend locals (of course), plus WBBM, WMAQ, WLS, and WTTW from Chicago, and WWMT from Kalamazoo. Surprised they allow so many out of market stations, but it’s great to have. Sadly, it’s WGN America instead of the real thing. Comcast in ...
