Re: New Radio

I'm surprised you're not using rechargeable batteries...

My Grundig G5 needs to have its reset button pushed every now and again--like your Sangean, it'll just start dpomg weird things with the tuner, or just stop responding.

Re: New Marquette radio stations....

And back way-back-when - it was "Music Radio WQXO" with no mention of call letters ('78-80) and before it was "One-Forty WGON/WQXO-FM" with no mention of the FM frequency. In the Dave Schaberg managing days - it was a clone of WJML/WMUS. Under Morgan Marti's ownership it was strictly local and just...

Re: New Marquette radio stations....

Back in the day, WQXO's branding was "Ninety Eight Three and AM Fourteen...Q-X-O". Seems to me that "Ninety Seven Five and AM Fourteen...Q-X-O" would work today...

Re: 1340 WMTE question

I heard WMTE(AM) a few times after the tower came down; it was over roughly a two-week span in late 2011.

FCC correspondence shows an STA granted for the long wire transmitter antenna granted on September 30, 2011 and cancelled on December 8, 2011.

Re: Old School 9&10

I remembered seeing those slides during 9&10's 50th anniversary special 10 years ago, hosted by the late, great Scott Michael Trager. Where'd you get them? Yup, that's where those images came from. Sadly, the stations I've been associated with (WFRV-TV/WJMN-TV) and a station whose studio I've produ...

Re: Old School 9&10

I sure disliked 7&4's double 'b' logo too...especially when they did the "Northern Michigan's Beam Of Light" IDs. My favorite 9 & 10 logo: http://i1363.photobucket.com/albums/r705/ggroleau/WWTVWWUPBlocklogo240_zps320d698a.jpg Wanna get real old school? Here's a couple from the WWTV's Channel 13 days...

Re: WDHS Iron Mountain

Iron Mountain is located within the FCC.gov's coverage area of Rhinelander's WJFW. WLUC would not even be able to put a translator there unless they changed network affiliations. The only chance for NBC on WDHS would be as a WJFW rebroadcaster. I'm sure WLUC and WGBA would have something to say abo...

Re: WDHS Iron Mountain

WBKP Channel 5 in Calumet had the DMA's ABC affiliation by the mid-1990's. They immediately became the ABC affiliate of choice on Charter's central and west-central UP cable systems. It wasn't long before they had W28BX on the air from Marquette, which was eventually replaced by full-service WBUP in...

Re: WDHS Iron Mountain

And to think they displaced a perfectly good commercial TV translator for this can of worms.

I bet more than a few people in the Iron Mountain area still miss the WLUC-TV translator on channel 8, W08BG, especially after the DTV transition.
