Re: Antenna Advice Needed

I was wondering if you have a porch built onto the mobile home--if it's wooden, something could be fabricated and unobtrusively stashed under the eaves or some other place, effectively making a big loop antenna out of your porch.. If the skirting around the home is non-metallic, that's another place...

Re: WJML FM Translator

If a station can be used for a wake on a clock radio, that certainly helps the morning shows. I really think that's why a lot of stations stay on overnight. Just so people can wake up with a station in the morning or whenever they get up. I personally prefer to leave my clock radio tuned on one sta...

Re: Old School 7&4, 29&8, WFRV/WJMN, WLUK

One has to wonder why WFRV / WJMN didn't use electronics for everything -- not just promos and news? By using slides for IDs and bulletins, it's just like a 2015 Chevy Impala having a body of the 1972 model. I also noticed that one of the pics from WLUK's newscasts had "Pre-Recorded" superimposed o...

Re: Old School 7&4, 29&8, WFRV/WJMN, WLUK

Great finds, WC8KCY! I really liked 7&4's news set from the 1970s. Those shapes on the wall were a little weird, though. Awesome that you posted Don Melvoin and his "Deputy Don" and "Count Zappula" personas. Truly a great man who became a local legend. Same with the late, great Dave Walker. 7&4 had...

WPBN/WTOM: I wonder if those are old ID slides on the monitors in the third frame. http://i1363.photobucket.com/albums/r705/ggroleau/WPBN%20WTOM/WPBN%201954%20ID%20Slide_zpsmsckc2wm.jpg http://i1363.photobucket.com/albums/r705/ggroleau/WPBN%20WTOM/WPBN%20News%20Set%201960s_zpsp5a8j5xk.jpg http://i13...

Re: WLUC to get new owners

Gray seems to do a good job with their properties, and they already operate numerous small market stations in the upper midwest (including Wausau, WI). This should be a good fit. Would be awesome if Gray did something about WLUC's limp over-the-air signal, but I'm not holding my breath. Gray's stat...

Re: Old School 9&10

I noticed that 7&4 during the Biederman years didn't have any discernable logos at all. http://logos.wikia.com/wiki/WPBN-TV 9&10, however, had some cool logos. http://logos.wikia.com/wiki/WWTV Even 29&8's first logo was somewhat cool. However, their logo from the early 80's looked like it was desig...

Re: Old School 9&10

Too bad 7&4 didn't really do a big deal with the 50th Anniversary specials. No old clips of news casts before 1996, no old logos until the very end, which none were pre-1980. Would love to see 7&4 stuff. They did show a black-and-white circular WPBN 7 ID slide when they were discussing the early da...

Re: 96.7 in Cadillac is flipping to Country

That depends. If the pea shooter can be local enough to winer over Caddy listeners, WTCM won't likely respond. I could assure you that most local businesses won't pay WTCM rates to reach ears nearly 100 miles North of Caddy. Cadillac is it's own economy, act local and they could do ok. Agreed! Unfo...

Re: Kix 104.7 at low power

You can see the carnage here: http://uppermichiganssource.com/news/local/kix-country-radio-tower-collapsed Was up near Rapid River visiting family August 17th-20th and 104.7 was dead air the whole time. They should get some coverage with a stick on the Harbor Tower--WLUC's W14CE translator was once ...

Re: AM 1480 WIOS ditches Adult Standards, now all talk

I suppose if you only hang out with Hipsters in Bistros in Ann Arbor, Royal Oak, and Traverse City, it's easy to think that everyone agrees with you, Moo. The truth is, you have greatly underestimated the number of people in this country who are angry with the decisions and laws that have been made...

Re: 1340 WMTE question

I've wondered many a time if WMTE(-AM) would've survived with an FM translator. The WKLA-AM translator here on 107.9 covers much more territory than the Radio Hill signal did.

Even the STA transmitter in 2011 had better coverage than the Radio Hill tower, putting a listenable signal into Onekama.
