Re: WLAV Tower Relocation

WGRD comes in fairly well on a car radio nearly all days until mile marker 135 on US-131. The signal hits a cliff and dives rapidly once one crosses the Muskegon River just a few miles south of Big Rapids,. With even a little bit of favorable atmospheric conditions, WGRD blasts in much farther north...

Re: Helping someone get WJBK OTA in SW Wyandotte

It's the only indoor antenna I've EVER used that's been able to pick up both CBET-DT and CICO-DT indoors, although it took very careful positioning near a south facing window to make that happen! The signal strength of WJBK using the antenna I referenced is stronger (based on my TV's dB meter) than ...

Re: WLPC Moved to 28

WLPC-CD lied to the FCC, which I find unlikely...
I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss that possibility.

Re: cumulus unloads 770 wabc

The fact not a single incumbent broadcaster in the Tri-State region wanted this 50 kW clear channel signal should serve as a massive wakeup call to everyone as to the long-term viability of AM radio as a mainstream broadcasting platform. It also serves as a testament to just how quickly and severely...

Re: Helping someone get WJBK OTA in SW Wyandotte

A lot of the flat, square antennas have elements inside perfectly suitable for VHF 7 to 13.

This one works great for me (do not use the preamp that comes with it):

Re: WLAV Tower Relocation

Drove to Holland (Park Township) this afternoon. No way in hell is LAV using the GVSU tower. I'm 100 percent certain they are on the 107.3 tower. Signal was a little weak but very listenable in the car in Zeeland. About four miles farther west, I started getting a mish mash of WLAV and WWDV (from Wa...

93.1 Grand Haven

So, for how long today has this station been broadcasting dead air?

Heard nothing but a silent carrier in the Holland area around 5:30p this afternoon.

Re: 2019 Detroit Tigers

Very well stated.

The Tigers rebuild is progressing very slowly. The front office doesn't have the right talent or intellect to execute a proficient rebuild.

I think the Tigers have a damn good chance of finishing the season with the worst record in the AL.

Re: Gerrymandering beyond Federal Courts?

The vast majority of the examples cited in Roberts' written opinion were of Republicans engaging in gerrymandering. Justice Roberts' arguments could have also been applied to federal court intervention in race based gerrymandering instance in the pre- Voting Rights Act era. Yet, federal courts inter...

Re: Why can't WHNE go to UHF 30?

I remember horrible interference plaguing reception of WWMT in the analog days whenever a microwave oven in the house was running. (This probably wouldn't be an issue if using an outdoor antenna, but I was using rabbit ears.) Depending on antenna orientation, there would also be diagonally shaped si...

Re: Democratic Debates thread

John Delaney made a point that was glossed over quite quickly. He pointed out that in conversations with the CFO's of several major hospitals they all said that if all their customers paid at Medicare rates they would be out of business rather soon. Excellent point; he impressed me with this remark...

Re: Gerrymandering beyond Federal Courts?

So, if federal courts have no authority, does that mean state courts still retain such authority?

I presume the answer to that question lies within each state's individual Constitution.

Re: OTA channels MIA

When I lived on the south side of Ann Arbor twenty years ago, WWJ-TV channel 62 came in clear as a bell. The station also delivered a crisp picture to Sterling Heights and Auburn Hills. Every bit as good as channels 4, 7 and 20 and much better than Fox 2 when using an indoor antenna. Yes, it took a ...

Re: Democratic Debates thread

I thought Julian Castro. Amy Klobuchar and Tulsi Gabbard helped their respective causes last night. Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii has the potential to become an appealing candidate to the center-left fragment of the party, i.e. the folks who might be inclined to vote for Joe Biden. She only was able to sp...
