Re: Windsor ratings are out; 89X is slipping again

The FM stations based in Windsor combine for about 25 percent of total listening there, if we assume the Numeris numbers are reasonably accurate. There are few successful commercial news/talk outlets in Canada outside of the major metro areas. The content just isn't there. I doubt the CRTC would app...

I'm not a big fan of WYCD's new imaging

Sorry, but I'm not a fan of WYCD's new imaging. The voiceovers (done by the same guy used by 96.7 in Windsor and 97.5 in Lansing, and ironically, the short-lived disaster known as 94.3 The Bone) sound muddy & cheap. It's not that the V/O artist is a poor choice for country radio...his stuff on Count...

Re: AM 810 rockford

WMJH has been operating nowhere near its licensed daytime power for many years. They do not have an STA to do so, either. When operating at full power, the station can be heard in the Lansing and Mt. Pleasant areas with a decent radio. These days, the signal is crackly even in Ionia County! If the F...

Re: Windsor ratings are out; 89X is slipping again

CFCO's only purpose in life is to feed the puny FM translator that operates at 92.9 MHz in Chatham. Similarly, CHOK's only purpose in life is to feed its puny FM translator that operates at 103.9 MHz near Sarnia. CFCO's nighttime signal goes to crap quickly after dark as you head south of Windsor. C...

Re: Windsor ratings are out; 89X is slipping again

I work most days in downtown Detroit. WNUC-LP's signal dies out near the Wayne State University campus. Along the riverfront, Mix 96.7 comes in loudly & clearly with no hint of WNUC-LP. I suspect the skyscrapers between its New Center TX site and the riverfront do a very good job of attenuating the ...

Re: Seriously WTF?

I do indeed remember hearing R.E.M. on the Album Rock stations in West Michigan back in the day. Multiple singles, in fact. I get that WRIF doesn't want to alienate older listeners, but the two playlists overlap much too far.... move anything from 1995 and earlier to WCSX, and stick to 1995 and late...

Re: WFCX to Central Michigan for $500,000

Exactly. There is only one out-of-market station that places a city or near-city grade signal into the heart of Hillsdale County (Battle Creek-focused WNWN-FM). There are only three or four out-of-market commercial FM stations that even deliver a grade B signal (WJXQ, WWDK, WRKR and maybe one other)...

Re: WCCO Drops CBS Newscasts

Don't be surprised if CBS News reappears on a Hubbard-owned station in the Minneapolis market; Hubbard in Washington, D.C. just brought back CBS newscasts at the top of the hour. I love hearing CBS's top of hour newscasts on 950 WWJ in Detroit. I will scream VERY LOUDLY if Entercom ditches those new...

That station indeed calls itself "The Wave," so I'd say that is definitely the station you heard.

Re: The End of 107.3 The Wave Cleveland

It's a douchey sounding Modern AC that panders to Generation Y.

The playlist is basically a more girlie version of what 93.9 The River plays.

This will go over like a lead balloon.

Format change near Menominee - 96.3 WSFQ

Hot AC "Hits 96" is now known as 96-3 The Rock. https://streamdb5web.securenetsystems.net/v5/index.cfm?stationCallSign=WSFQ I agree with Northpine.com that the music mix at night is Active Rock. I've not yet had an opportunity to listen during the daytime. Aside from the Menominee area, it appears t...

Re: What does 9 million dollars buy?

Harbaugh's record against ranked teams on the road or at neutral sites is abysmal. Equally abysmal is his inability (to date) to develop a homegrown QB into a great player. Shea Patterson and Jake Rudock were both transfers! The program seems stuck in neutral. Instead of taking teams to wonderful va...

Re: How to fix CNN

I can't imagine Jon Stewart or John Oliver wanting to work at CNN. Stewart is no fan of cable news and Oliver I'm sure is content doing what he's doing for HBO. Plus, both of these comedians' humor would be a bit too risque for a mainstream cable news network. Stewart's contempt for cable news is e...

Re: Windsor ratings are out; 89X is slipping again

I wonder if 89X is suffering due to all the people curious about WLLZ and giving them a listen for a bit. Once the novelty wears off, things might return to normal. Could certainly be part of the reason. I think the bigger reasons are the fact WRIF is kicking their ass and 89X's overall sound is bo...
