Re: Hurricane Dorian

Latest forecast has shifted the track significantly eastward, introducing a decent chance of the center of circulation remaining completely offshore of Florida.

Shocking!

Re: New 105.3 Hot FM morning show announced

Actually, I think WHTS is more reliant on currents and plays less gold than WSNX. One issue with WHTS is the song scheduling choices are subpar. I hear too much mid tempo music. WHTS has already been re-imaged a couple times in recent years. The station is damaged goods. Time to try something new. A...

Re: Big News regarding ESPN 1000, Chicago

To be fair though, there were already three other country stations with signals in Milwaukee. WTKM in Hartford, WMBZ in West Bend, plus WMIL in Milwaukee. This new FM station also gives the Brewers and Bucks a clear FM signal on days when there are conflicts with the Packers. Oh please. WTKM and WM...

Re: Hurricane Dorian

In the past decade, it seems the NHC and forecast models are almost always wrong when they project a significant hurricane to strike the eastern Florida coastline. The forecast track by the time the storm reaches the Bahamas almost always (a) changes to a more northerly track toward the Carolinas or...

Re: Big News regarding ESPN 1000, Chicago

The dumbasses at Good Karma below up a moderately successful country station with a 4 share in favor of an All Sports format at 94.5 FM in Milwaukee that now grabs around a 0.7 share. :lol

Re: KFOG Bites The Dust

Meh. KFOG was seeing eroding ratings as a AAA even before going the “Music Matters” route in 2016 and going full-blown Alt last year. The execution of the format never did anything for me, though Cumulus has done a great job with AAA in Ann Arbor. 2012 is the year KFOG was ruined. The station never...

Re: KFOG Bites The Dust

Yes - 105.3 remains alternative. About a year ago, KFOG evolved from Modern AC to straight-up Alternative and pretty much became a carbon copy of 105.3. The station hasn't been a true AAA for a number of years. Abandoning the pure form of that format was a colossal mistake, in my judgment. The stati...

Re: WHNE 14.12

I am not so sure mapping one stream to multiple virtual channels eats up bandwidth. There is a Class A broadcasting on VHF-lo in the Milwaukee area. Take a look at their STA filings. Startling stuff. I think on the most recent one, they were seeking an increase from 4.5 kW all the way to 15 kW due t...

I honestly never knew crime rates were so high in Pt. Huron.

The lazy media outlets in Detroit don't seem to pay much attention to the Bluewater area even though it is part of Nielsen DMA.

Re: Which Metro Detroit cities are declining and which are improving?

I considered Clinton Twp, too, Y M. The thing is, its south end really looks no different than when I first moved to the area 15 years ago. It has never been particularly desirable. I haven't driven down Garfield, north Groesbeck or down Cass Ave. in a while. Hall Rd is still booming, though, even d...

Re: Which Metro Detroit cities are declining and which are improving?

I forgot to name one for my improving column: Clawson. Here's another one for my declining column: Canton. Hell, I'll add Sterling Heights to the "declining" list, too! South end of the city is looking a little rough. Van Dyke thoroughfare isn't what it used to be, and if Lakeside Mall becomes the n...

Re: Which Metro Detroit cities are declining and which are improving?

Hamtramck is improving? REALLY?!?! You mean it actually used to look WORSE than it does today?!?! Parts of Hamtramck look like Honduras. The only reason people are moving to Hazel Park is because it's close to Royal Oak, Ferndale and downtown Detroit and because there is plenty of housing stock unde...

A Muskegon area simulcaster of WCSG would be an interesting possibility! They've already added Kalamazoo, Battle Creek and Benton Harbor / St. Joe. Why not Muskegon, too?
