Re: WLAV Tower Relocation - new update 7/29

As acknowledged in the paperwork filed, WLAV cannot broadcast at full power until puny little WLAW moves.

Personally, I'd just turn in the WLAW license, or in the alternative, file an STA to broadcast at reduced power from the current WLAW site.

Re: "News Now with Kevin Dietz"

I was wrong in giving WADL and Mr. Dietz the benefit of the doubt.

He is a mediocre one-on-one interviewer. The show I saw last week was less interesting than watching paint dry. I have a feeling the show will largely be a parade of no-name guests to boot.

Re: Three CBS-Owned CW Stations Add Nightly News

I finally saw CW 50's so-called newscast Monday Night. It's bad. No name anchor from Dallas stands in front of chroma key well and reads stories as footage video plays. A few locally produced pre-recorded stories shot in the field are part of the package. Karen Carter's weathercast is inserted comin...

Re: Tara Edwards case dismissed

I bet she got a sizable payday. I bet she received at least $500,000.

The fact the case was "dismissed with prejudice" without an actual ruling from the Judge was the tipoff that it was settled. I should have done a better job connecting those dots earlier.

Re: Looks Like Toll Roads Are Being Tossed Around Again

Those with a better understanding of physics than I suggest the weight-per-axle restrictions Michigan imposes, which are relatively strict compared to the rest of the nation, are more important than the overall weight limit.

The problem is - numerous companies break the law and violate the limit.

The below presentation deck is a little over a year old, but I found the data within it to be quite informative nonetheless:

Re: State of the State Address 2020: Anyone Watching?

The bonds will probably be issued with a coupon at or below 3%. Debt service - assuming a 20 year amortization - will probably be somewhere between $200 million to $250 million a year, and that'll only be true if & when the full $3.5 billion in bonds are issued. That's not a big number when viewed i...

Re: Intellectual equals to address nation on 2/5

I'll give Whitmer some credit. She signed auto insurance reform into law last year and also line item vetoed a bunch of pork barrel spending (although her rationale was a little twisted, to say the least). Snyder couldn't get auto insurance reform done in eight full years in office. Nothing will be ...

Sounds like talking points from a news consultant.
Agreed. Perhaps the same trash consultant WDIV in Detroit was using over a decade ago? ("Local 4 is Everywhere" the anchors would proclaim repeatedly during the newscast. )

Re: Country music dead??

I agree with Loretta!

Too much crap on country radio and on the god awful Awards shows these days is nothing more than synthetic pop music. The only thing making such music "country" is a lead singer with a southern accent.

Re: Super Bowl Predictions

First, KC and SF's teams face one another in the 2014 World Series. Now, their two football teams square off in the biggest game there is! San Francisco teams don't lose championship deciding games very often. True, the 49ers lost to the Ravens in their most recent Super Bowl appearance. I think the...

Re: State of the State Address 2020: Anyone Watching?

Most Michiganders think the state has enough money for road construction. Most Michiganders have never studied the state budget, nor have they compared our road budget to other cold climate states. The vast majority of those same people will (correctly) say the roads are in poor shape and more work...

I think Sanders would be no weaker a candidate than Biden in a general contest.
