Re: Three CBS-Owned CW Stations Add Nightly News

We've heard of out-of-market voicetracking for FM radio, right? This sounds like the TV news equivalent of "voicetracking" ! By the way, Comerica's decision to move to Dallas was smart. At the time, no major or semi-major bank had its HQ in the DFW metroplex. Economically, DFW has grown by leaps and...

Re: Iheart Disloctation

For a number of years in the 90's and I believe very early 2000's, Cleveland did not have a full market CHR. Remember, "Kiss" began its life on 104.9 FM in the late 90's as a way of partially filling the CHR void. The station known as WKDD was previously located at 96.5, whose tower at the time was ...

Any rumors as to whom - if anyone - may be interested in purchasing 106.7 WSRT and 105.5 WSRJ?

Re: DISGUSTING move by Senators Stabenow and Peters

Actually, I did indeed criticize McConnell when he refused to hold hearings for the nomination of Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court. They both are pretty tame in my opinion and I would still vote for them despite their objections to a judicial appointment. We all know if the tables were turned, a...

Re: Iowa Listeners 1 - iHeart 0

I love the fact the ultra low rated, extremely heavily voicetracked "ALT" station is the one getting the ax to preserve a Sports format with a great deal of local content.

Great move! Kudos to the listeners and advertisers in Central Iowa for making their voices heard!

Re: Three CBS-Owned CW Stations Add Nightly News

Ya mean the weather segments are going to be locally produced? OMG - that changes everything! This two bit effort on the part of CBS is sure to be a rousing success now! (Let me guess - the weather caster will be the one with the speech impediment who does the cut-ins on 62.) How PITIFUL is it that ...

Re: "News Now with Kevin Deitz"

Beat me to it; was just getting ready to post a new thread on this very topic. :) Certainly sounds a LOT more interesting than the mickey mouse effort that WKBD will be unveiling. I'll give the Dietz program a shot at earning my viewership for sure. I don't say this often - this seems like a very sm...

Re: Three CBS-Owned CW Stations Add Nightly News

I guarantee everyone this is being done solely to take advantage of election ad spending.

This effort will earn abysmal ratings.

As soon as we enter 2021, I suspect the newscasts will be canceled.

Surprising programming change upcoming to WGN America; 3 hour national newscast to debut

I personally think this is a trial balloon that could potentially lead to WGN America changing identity and becoming a 24/7 cable news network. WGN's owner is Nexstar, the same company that owns WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids, WLNS-TV in Lansing, and WJMN-TV in Escanaba / Marquette. https://www.robertfeder...

Re: Iheart Disloctation

WAKS has had weak ratings and a seemingly skimpy budget forever; they have long been the red-headed step child of iFart's Cleveland cluster.

Re: NOheart cuts have begun

The scary thing is - the on-air moves seem minor compared to the moves Beasley recently made.

The names let go by iFart aren't exactly household names or long term market veterans.

The PD / afternoon drive host at WSNX, Aly, was also fired.

I suspect someone from Detroit or Chicago will VT afternoons, and programming chores will probably be handled either by Detroit or some corporate hub.

Re: NOheart cuts have begun

An informative article appears at detnews.com.

Locally, a sales manager lost his or her job, Krissy T of WKQI (evenings) has been replaced by a voice tracker from Los Angeles, Anne Erickson of WLLZ was fired, and multiple mix show hosts at WJLB were fired.
