Re: Hudson Tower (Building Under Construction) & Initial FM Collocation Analysis

I guess the point of interest is whether any real coverage increase, with the millions it would cost, would actually be worth spending those millions for a few more miles of city grade contour. Stations can't afford to spend money on decent programming, so why would they spend it on facilities?

Re: HD Noise Cancellers

With 38 HD-AM stations, there are almost more analog stereo AM (CQUAM) stations on the air without disrupting their neighbors, like -1430 WION, and Nautel made it easy to revert your iBoc back to CQUAM in the menu on several of their AM-HD transmitters. The "I" and "Q" are there, just do the calcul...

Re: The Good Old Days of Full-Powered Analog TV

Wow, amazing analog coverage areas, and if they digital stations today had this type of power, you could use rabbit ears in your car. You could see in 1995 the beginning of the end of broadcasters as FOX buying-up the nice VHF stations in the top 10 markets, and in 1996 the unlimited sloth of radio...

Re: Grayling Rocker

I was listening around 8pm and all seemed fine. When did they go off? Has anybody else noticed this station has a slight STL hiss? Yup. When I was there in the mid 90's it had a noise floor problem. I tried to clear it up as best I could with basically nothing but my ears to work with. I finally br...

It's scary how clueless the people that run these stations are.
And then, they wonder why they lose listeners in droves.

Re: WPON Update - 2019

It's sad that there are so many great radio people who would love to have a go at owning and operating a radio station, but just cannot pull enough strings to do so, yet owners like Birach and Henderson treat valid radio licenses like old toys. Total contempt for the FCC. It sickens me. I don't know...

Ed, I was referring to his (our) place of employment, not the house. I never went there, not that I wished to. Speaking of employment, I came back to Michigan in 1987 unemployed and broke. I learned of an opening at 1510 AM in Jackson sent a tape and was granted an interview. When I got there, an o...

Re: am 1250 Saginaw

I was in Flint yesterday and heard sports talk on 1250, too strong to be any out of town station, no breaks / promos / liners. What station could this be? WGL in Fort Wayne. That's my guess. Or.... WSSP from Milwaukee bounces in here in Flint from time to time. There are a bunch of 5kW stations dow...

Re: am 1250 Saginaw

He was on Whittier Street before WKNX. I heard a story that Jim flipped the pattern 180 degrees and got a nasty call from WCAU-AM, who were wondering just what the hell was going on. That place on Whittier was a dump! Probably a nice house under all the dust bunnies, radio junk and flat-out mess. H...

All I hope is IBOC goes away on AM. It's actually hurting the band.

I don't do Crapple products. Any of them. Just non-productive IMO. What's great is I can open these streams in so many different apps, even on my XP Pro boxes.

I stopped watching SNL years ago myself, though mainly due to the quality of the comedy -- nothing to do with politics.
Exactly the case for me.

Re: HD Noise Cancellers

I cannot, to this day, believed the FCC approved IBOC on AM, much less that it continues to disrupt AM listening regardless of the handful of actual HD listeners out there. Pull the plug, already!
