Re: "Stacks 92.1"
https://radioinsight.com/headlines/185901/rhythmic-ac-comes-out-of-lansings-stacks/ If a station stunts in woods, and nobody is around to hear it, does it make a sound? So true. Betting the farmers in Clinton County, where most of the signal is, are delighted with this latest change! </SARCASM>

Re: New Nielsen Audio ratings survey for Grand Rapids - a few interesting twists!
I would call 101.3 The Brew's music "mass appeal," but a typical hour of music is so horrendously structured that I cannot come to terms with making such a declaration! Their 1.2 share - perhaps an all-time record low for the station going back five decades - befits the terrible programming. How mu...

Re: Could A Noncommercial And Commercial Station Share One Channel Like 6 And 53?
Of course a commercial station could share a subchannel with non-commercial, but not vice versa. It could go either way. They are only sharing spectrum, but each holds its own FCC license. https://www.tvtechnology.com/news/channelsharing-multiple-stations-on-one-channel Its not like sharing a subch...

Re: Could 96.1 flip from sports?
With no sports until (minimum) Memorial Day, is there a chance 96.1 (and other sports stations nationwide) flip from sports to talk or even a music-based format? I don't see it with 96.1; it would take time to grow an audience with a flip and before that could happen, its likely we'll be in footbal...

The WKLZ sale to EMF was approved yesterday (3/16) by the FCC.

Re: 99.3 wqan and 92.3 wbnz
The ones I can see not getting renewed (none of these are certain yet, but I do see at least a chance): All Henderson licenses (also, I never saw any silent STA's filed for any of those stations) 92.5 WFDX 102.7 WMOM 105.5 WBMI 105.5 WSRJ The FCC database is a mess right now between the old CDBS sy...

Re: 99.3 wqan and 92.3 wbnz
Do you know how stupid you sound? The FCC does care about FM. They actually do care whether you've been on the air for much of your license term. Here's some light reading: https://docs.fcc.gov/public/attachments/DA-17-458A1.pdf I also suspect there's more than a handful of stations that will have ...

Re: WCCW AM tower site for sale
Either 1310's license will be returned to the FCC once the land is sold, or we'll see a request to diplex 1310 from AM 580's tower site soon. Not sure why it would make any sense to bother with the latter; AM radio will be almost as fringe a broadcast medium as shortwave in probably 20 more years. ...

It looks like the MAB job is anything but "cushy and do-nothing." You should be wishing her the best!lovinlife101 wrote: ↑Fri Feb 21, 2020 3:50 pmOne former newsy lands a cushy, do-nothing job, while Bill and Joel cry in their beer.

Gray(WILX) purchases WLNM-LD
Looks like Gray is growing their brand in Lansing, purchasing Tri-State Christian TV's low power WLNM, Channel 27:

Agreement permits Tri-State ro program one of the WLNM sub-channels.

I may be wrong, but I wouldn't be surprised if the team was paying for the airtime. I have the impression they might have money to burn.

The cable news business today is not about news, just opinion and sensationalism. CNN today was not the era of Ted Turner...and thats very unfortunate. CNN, back in its infancy, wasn't always exciting. Lots of time it was repeating the same, sometimes boring headlines over and over. Then they'd str...
