Re: CICO on 19.1

I agree on CBET. I have a separate high-VHF antenna fixed on it. I like having it for Canadian news and the occasional hockey game. CICO doesn’t really have what warrants a fixed antenna for me. An antenna fixed on CBET is also an antenna fixed on CICO32. They are both on a tower near McGregor, ON.

Re: WMYD will switchover to ATSC 3.0 today at 10AM EST, 12/07.

You're getting WMYD's Channel 20.1 stream, since it is owned by Scripps - that is, the same WMYD stream on RF 25 since the repack. 20.2 is transmitted by WDIV's plant, on Channel 32 20.3 is transmitted by WJBK's plant on Channel 7. TV sets store the channel information in memory - storing the actual...

RCA 751R is the smaller size. One thing about TV antennas, is t...

Re: Impressive share for WISN

Glad Milwaukee still has a very healthy AM presence that Chicago and Detroit used to have and have lost (save for one AM in each market). WLS with shares of 1, likewise WJR going from double digit shares to 'has been' even during an election year. It may help that the strip of land within about 40 ...

Re: Flint viewers left behind again

How many of Flint's residents can afford to run out and buy a new TV or ATSC 3.0 tuner?? Oh, probably quite a few, to go along with their iPads and iPhones that they "really had to have", while they still couldn't (or wouldn't) pay their water bills. Would you buy high-octane leaded water and drink...

Re: Fixed antenna for CICO & CBET

I want to put up a fixed TV antenna at about 20 feet for CICO and CBET in Windsor. According to RabbitEars they are 27 miles from my house. Since CBET is high VHF (channel 9 actual channel) and CICO is channel 19 I will need a VHF/UHF antenna. I am trying to get a smaller antenna and wonder if the ...

Re: Are CICO and CBET on the same tower?

Second YpsiGuy. When Windsor 9 came to air, everybody knew that its actual market was stateside. It just made sense for the Canadian government to license CKLW-TV to a foreign partnership with RKO General, and allowing CKLW to sell US advertising, as the USA side had (and still has) far more viewers...

Re: Hey, 93.9...

Someone finally cleaned up 93.9's crappy audio processing. Today is the first time I've sampled the station in over a week. Audio definitely sounds cleaner than before. Unfortunately, the playlist remains reprehensibly awful. 88.7 sure seems like it's broadcasting at reduced power. I have no issue ...

Re: Blarney Stone Petitions FCC to cancel WLDR license

WPBN-TV 7 used to be a wall to wall signal in Mecosta County. WWTV 9 was somewhat stronger, and WZZM 13 a close third. WKZO/WWMT 3, WNEM 5, WJIM/WLNS 6 WOOD 8, and WJRT 12 were all receivable at higher elevations, and later WGTU 29 and WGVC/WGVU 35 were receivable. Even WJBK 2 and WWJ/WDIV 4 were r...

Re: WMYD will switchover to ATSC 3.0 today at 10AM EST, 12/07.

That's weird. My understanding was that ATSC 3.0 uses COFDM modulation. 8VSB is used for ATSC 1.0. COFDM uses VERY MANY carriers, all with a slow modulation rate. 8VSB uses a very fast modulation rate (measured in MHz). The superiority of COFDM lies in its lower symbol rate. In 8VSB/ATSC 1.0, a refl...

I see nothing on RF31 anymore.
Wholly different modulation system.

It may be there, but you'll need an ATSC 3.0 tuner or dongle to watch it.

Per scroll appearing on the stations main channel. You may need to rescan, folks. Why would you need to rescan for a 3.0 station, unless you have a 3.0 receiver? Effective today at 10AM (right now), channel 20 will disappear on TV sets that people use antennas to receive the local stations. Some of...

Re: WMYD will switchover to ATSC 3.0 today at 10AM EST, 12/07.

You'll do a scan to receive the latest list of ATSC 1.0 channels and subchannels. When your scan reaches RF channel 25, it will receive both WXYZ and WMYD broadcasting on that same RF channel, but your TV will show them as 7.1 and 20.1. When your scan reaches channel 31, your set will not recognize ...

Re: Blarney Stone Petitions FCC to cancel WLDR license

Why is this owner trying to start LP-DTV operations in a region where few people are using antennas (because of complex terrain), when he can't seem to keep his potentially more lucrative high-power FM properties on the air.

Maybe he should sell N479RH and go Greyhound?
