The crackly AM station will need some upgrades to have really useful coverage (at least daytime) in the Kalamazoo area. Bear in mind 94.1 from the Jackson area has a perfectly acceptable signal on many car radios in the Kalamazoo area. More likely, the new owners will look to relocate the CP for th...

Re: The New K107.3 Flint's Classic Hits
Many people DRIVE from Genesee County to JOBS in Oakland County (US Census says around 25,000), and why shouldn't they be able to listen to their LOCAL stations on the way to work? They can't even listen peacefully to WCRZ with that blasted (and at the very least) overmodulated translator for WDTW ...

WCAR, previously WIID, WTAK, and originally WERB, WBRB's sister station, was a cash machine when Walter Wolpin owned it. WTAK was metro Detroit's first all talk station, and made Lou Gordon famous. The day and night patterns on this facility are very different, and the station actually increases po...

Isn't 910 down there too? Didn't they move there after moving out of Flint? It's in Carleton (an 8 tower array which is about half the size of Carleton itself). It booms at my in-laws house, right in their crosshairs. It actually has only a fair signal in the Eastern portions of the Detroit area.

Back in the days when 1530 Cincinnati was an MYL/soft rock hybrid (which I absolutely LOVED), I was hearing a good signal on a barrier island in the Florida Panhandle - an hour and a half before sunset!Radio Chili wrote: ↑Sun Jan 03, 2021 3:39 pmWLW from Cincinnati still does REALLY well in Florida and Puerto Rico at night.

Re: Local TV stations blow the Christmas Eve & Christmas Day weather forecast
Weather Channel said flurries, so it seems like everyone messed this forecast up. {personal edit} In late November, 1974, Meteorologists had been forecasting a snowstorm that had the potential to bring 6" of snow to Detroit in a few days. The following day, all the prognosticators had changed the s...

The old Night WXYT pattern on 10 Mile Rd. used 165 degree towers, and went as well to the South as to the North. The Nondirectional Day pattern was the equivalent of 8250 watts referenced the the legacy Class B efficiency minimum of 282 mV/m @ 1 kW @ 1 km. https://www.fccinfo.com/image.php?ShowPatt...

Re: Best setup for reliable radio communications over 30 or 60 miles?
So yesterday on Christmas, 2 family members of mine (who live roughly 60 miles apart straight-line distance) get to talking about various world affairs, and one of them out of the blue asks me (being the tech geek in the family) if things were to get really bad, like, to the point of there no longe...

I see that the owner was DTV America LLC. This was a front company that hoarded LPTV licenses and planned to dismantle them all after the repack auction concluded. It had no intention of being a broadcasting empire, it only wanted to collect money by selling spectrum. Worse, after the repack, they w...

Re: Network television ratings IN THE TOILET
I watch almost nothing in prime time on the "Big Four" these days. Family Guy and sometimes the Simpsons...that's about it. I've got little use for talent & singing competitions, recycled game shows (with nauseatingly excited contestants in the case of the shows found on ABC) and reality shows. I t...

I've said it before here...there hasn't been an upstart in this market in a long time that has taken down the incumbent. Because of said lack of detail. They come on, play the same shit as the other guy, don't promote, don't spend, hang around or 2 or 3 share (at best), don't research...and then in...

Paul Gross at Loco 4 said little to no snow for west siders last night. Showed a model with a 0.5 inch or less in total accumulation beginning last night through tonight. He did predict the possibility of 1 to 3 inches of accumulation immediately near the riverfront and along the shoreline of Lake ...
