Re: 89X Memories

In the summer of 1990 I learned that Greg St James was moving to 88.7 to do a Alternative Rock show in the evenings, even the term Alternative was fairly new as the terms Modern Rock and New Wave and New Music were still in use. I tuned in the 1st night of "The Cutting Edge of Rock" at 8pm to listen...

Re: RIP 89X

My far left FM preset has been 88.7 from even before 89X or even the The Cutting Edge of Rock but now (much like 99.5) it will be removed only to added again if the station has another format change. RIP 88.7 your dead to me, just like 99.5.

Re: RIP 89X

I tuned into the very 1st night of the Cutting Edge of Rock, where Greg St James took over the frequency with a much format change., then as the block became bigger and bigger, just in time for the Grunge explosion of the 90s. Then left the station behind when it started to become just another playl...

Re: WMYD (RF31) will be switching over to ATSC 3.0 on December 7th.

Bad News, there is only 1 turner available that is reasonably priced, but it is for connecting to your computer network, not directly to the TV. So I won't have a ATSC 3.0 turner when the switch happens.

Good News, when I do get a ATSC 3.0 DVR box for my TV I will have stations to pick up.

Re: WUDT 23

I used the Indian summer record nice weather to get on my roof and finally mount my outdoor antenna nice and high and straight. Did a rescan and found out that there is now 23.2, and no signal on 8 at all, I think they plan to stay until they are forced off 23.

Re: WMYD (RF31) will be switching over to ATSC 3.0 on December 7th.

The current only option is the HDHomeRun QUATRO 4K for ATSC 3.0, which allows the signal to be picked up by apps on your computers, roku, etc... Which I don't really want, I want a box, preferable w/DVR, that does ATSC 3.0 that hooks right up to the TV.

It's like WUDT doesn't plan to move to 8 unless they are forced off 23.

Re: Is THIS still on WDIV 4.2?

It think both "This" and "Movies" are good channels for movie buffs. Movies tries to be OTA TCM, and I mean that in a good way. This does have some TV shows in it's schedule and a small block of infomercial time, but over all it's mostly films from the 70's through the last decade. I would miss both...

Since I still have reception issues with CW, ABC, and WHNE, this might be a better option then messing with my set up,

Channel 4 off the air at 11:30

WDIV and all the sub channels are off the air after 11:30AM on Sunday. Checking their webpage, Twiiter, and Facebook I don't see anything about a planned maintenance or outage. Unless they figured since they were running infomercials no one would notice.

Re: 106.7 WLLZ: Detroit's Wheels (Classic Rock) is here

No programmer worth a damn would program a bunch of obscure album cuts, B-sides, and stiffs in regular programming to cater to a small group of music snobs. It just wouldn't work. Just one example off the top of my head. The J.Geils Band they had 11 studio Albums and 30 singles. They considered Det...

Re: 106.7 WLLZ: Detroit's Wheels (Classic Rock) is here

It's definitely a mess, and they need to be more honest with the way they present themselves. Call it Rock Variety or something. I definitely like it though. I cannot stand listening to one certain type or decade of music continuously. It's nice to hear my favorite rock songs spanning 5 decades, in...

Re: RIP CometTV (A Rant)

I agree, I use to struggle to get Comet TV in on 19.7 positioning my antenna just right to get a steady signal. Now I hardly watch much of Comet TV. I am a big Babylon 5 fan, but I have already watched it from start to finish 3 times since they started airing it. Looks like this is the last run thro...

Re: I'm beginning to think WLLZ has a liberal bias

I think the internet has already killed music on FM radio. The small playlist of safe songs, boiling down major artist with multiple albums down to a handful of songs, some artist just one or two songs if they are lucky to even get played. Being very restrictive in the bands they do play. About the ...
