<snip> Music selections is just a repeat of 20 songs over and over. Anyone know what's going on here?
Yeah, that's called "just about any FM station anymore".
Hey, now! lol. We rotate about 2500 songs at WIDL. ;)
I know, hence the "just about". Obviously, you aren't one that sucks ;)

Wow, this is surprising. I wonder what made Mark finally pull the plug?

Re: 98.7 Alternative!

The fact is, you can't say in liners that you're for disgruntled 89x listeners, and then play 2 songs an hour 89x played in 2004, and then a bunch of shit 89x wouldn't be caught dead playing. I knew it was only a matter of time until the music of my childhood/teen years was boiled down to 15 or 20 s...

Re: 98.7 Alternative!

Yeah, I heard Teenagers by My Chemical Romance this morning. Which, btw, isn't terrible and sounds almost like a bluesy sound. They had one or two decent songs back when. This is akin to creating a "classic rock" station in 1984, and then playing a Beatles song followed by Run DMC and Whitney Housto...

Re: The Breeze Drifts Away

I get 95.9 fairly reliably here, it would be great if that country format swirled the porcelain bowl at some point. As far as The Breeze is concerned, it may have not my FIRST choice, but it was good to have nonetheless. I'd catch a good song here and there. As it stands now, I've probably heard mor...

Re: 98.7 Alternative!

I have heard REM get played, but I doubt much pre-grunge alternative will get played, the same for anything outside the grunge, britpop, pop-punk bands. I don't think we will hear much of the female artist that broke out during the 90's or any of the Industrial that actually broke on radio for a bi...

Re: 98.7 Alternative!

So long as we're coming up with lists of what bands should be on a decent alternative station, I'll add some. Moloko Sisters of Mercy The Cult iio Cold The Crystal Method Our Lady Peace Sloan Puddle of Mudd The Alarm Social Distortion Was (Not Was) Tragically Hip (I know this was mentioned, but the...

Re: RIP 89X

It just occurred to me...when 89x started up, weren't they playing what could have been considered "snowflake music" for the times? In 1990-91, it was all about the butt rock...Crue, Poison, Whitesnake...basically, the playlist for any mainstream FM rock station today. I found a commercial for 89x f...

Re: Hey, 93.9...

107.1 in Ann Arbor fights it out with a K Love affiliate over here. Neither wins. It's not able to listen to it easily here in Warren. Besides, I had heard that 107.1 ditched their indy adult alternative format for light rock? Nope, still AAA, and even so, I heard "Twice As Hard" by the Black Crowe...

Re: RIP 89X

I'm gonna set up the old Kenwood analog tuner tonight and check the signal strength of 88.7 out here. Sometimes it came in better than Detroit proper stations. There's a lot of rural out here, it would probably fare well in this area.

Not in this house, though.

Re: 98.7 Alternative!

The Goddamn signal is picket fencing something fierce in Brighton tonight. Even messing with the antenna isn't helping. Was nice to hear Smells Like Teen Spirit on there tonight. Been 25 years since I heard that on 98.7 Also, the Chili Peppers have more songs than Can't Stop. Just tossing that out t...

Re: RIP 89X

Okay, I'm gonna be honest...I hate country music post 1990 or so, and preferred the breeze and alternative (not what they are playing now), so I would shed no tears if 99.5 flipped. What DOES suck, however, is people getting fired over format flips. If I knew they were keeping their paychecks, I'd f...

Re: RIP 89X

No way. Of all the country stations in town, 99.5 is king. I’d rather have the dominant Subway in town than be the only Indian restaurant in the blue collar white suburb. That may be true, but that's what I get for thinking outside the box. Hasn't YCD been slipping recently? Or have they made anoth...

Re: 98.7 Alternative!

Anyone mention "She Don't Use Jelly"? Because that needs to be on there.

Also, Superdrag "Sucked Out". If MW and I out our heads together, we could remember every forgotten 90s tune that got brushed aside.
