Took a short trip out west for work...
Interesting things I noticed on the dial while in Jackson, Wy: At least two translators (can't remember which) airing nothing but a carrier, I guess facilities up in the mountains might not be accessible this time of year? KCVI 101.5 "Kbear" is awesome. Great playlist, H*** signal, terrible audio ch...

Re: WDVD sounding better than ever
That station & Q106 WJXQ in Jackson, MI are the best FM sounding stations!!!! WJXQ really does have some awesome processing. WBYR also. Where i'm at in the metro, I can pick both up quite regularly. I notice on WRIF, WIOT and WCSX quite often, the 'low bandwidth' sound of MP3 files, and also a digi...

And then theres this. Wow. I have to say I was not expecting this level of, um, abundance, from my underrated news hottie Jessica Dupnack! https://scontent.fdet1-2.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t39.30808-6/430112489_828175772451133_2502310817958257278_n.jpg?stp=dst-jpg_s640x640&_nc_cat=102&ccb=1-7&_nc_sid=5f2048...

Re: FM reception in the southeast part of the US
I only have experience in South Florida, where most of the miami stations carry across alligator alley almost to the Naples area and vice versa. The two metros are roughly 125mi apart.

Hell when I was a kid and we went north, anytime the TV turned on and received one channel, it was the 700 club - all day every day.syntheticexctasy wrote: ↑Tue Feb 20, 2024 3:04 pmI think what northern michigan needs, is another religious broadcaster. All Jesus, all day - only on 9&10.

Re: Tropospheric ducting on Saturday 2/3
I had some notable catches yesterday: 105.9 WKHQ Charlevoix, MI, 238mi (cochannel to WDMK locally) 93.1 WIBC Indianapolis, IN, 189mi (cochannel to WUFL locally, found while pointing NW in WUFL null?) 106.7 WSRT Gaylord, MI, 225mi (cochannel to WLLZ locally) 105.1 WGFM Cheboygan, MI, 233mi (cochanne...

Re: How many different songs does WCSX play?
There's so much more out there...it drives me nuts that WRIF and WCSX, being sister stations, practically share a playlist these days. I understand why to a degree. If you missed "Sweet child o' mine" on WRIF, just flip to their sister station WCSX and hear it again in five minutes.

Re: Tropospheric ducting on Saturday 2/3
I was cruising around the north end of Grand Rapids yesterday listening to Q95 94.7 out of Indianapolis. Not being bothered at all by WKLQ on 94.5 or Jethro FM on 94.9, even though I was within a couple of miles of Jethro's transmitter site. Ya, I know they are only a 250 watt translator, but they ...

Re: Tropospheric ducting on Saturday 2/3
Wow. I can't believe I was getting a translator from Holly in that area, and enough to fight with a Lansing station that generally comes in reliably in my area. The "Holly" translator is actually across US24 from Dixieland Flea Market on the Waterford/Pontiac border, NW of downtown Pontiac (last I ...

Re: WJBK signal strength?
The directional pattern may be out of whack, whereby some azimuths may be receiving less signal than they should. Glad to hear areas to the south are still able to pick up a reliable signal. WJBK is actually the most reliable of the Detroit stations here - I'm guessing it's because it's good ol' VH...
