It' simply called longevity. I worked in the business for 38 years. 2 years at one station and 36 at another. 50 is much more than I could have put up with.

I was surprised to hear them make their pattern change (2 tower DA to 6 tower DA) at 5:15 PM, when there was plenty of daylight left in the day. The pattern switch times are on a month to month schedule. They are assigned by the FCC so you can't alter them even though it might still be daylight.
