Re: Blue Jay Fans Outraged That SportsNet is dropping Radio Broadcast in favor of Simulcast of TV Broadcast

I wonder if this is just a one-year budget cut and a separate radio crew returns in 2022, assuming US/Canada relations normalize and most if not all COVID restrictions are gone

Re: WBMI 1055 Back on the Air

In the mid 90's, there was no current based rock station, no CHR/Pop station with a signal worth a damn (WKHQ and WKPK could be heard in parts of town with a very good receiver), and barely a Hot AC station (102.3 from Big Rapids) available in Cadillac. Other than a Modern AC station disguised as a...

Re: Let the great subchannel realignment begin

I'm in the Tampa area on vacation this month, and here are the duplicated subchannels there: Court TV (WFLA 8.2, WFTS 28.4, and WXPX 66.2) Court TV Mystery (WFLA 8.3 and WVEA 50.4) - could this be coming to WXPX 66.5 based on the above post and WFTS adding QVC? Grit (WFTS 28.3 and WXPX 66.3) Laff (W...

Re: Changes probably coming soon at WPXD (ION).

Do we really need yet another outpost for HSN or QVC programing?!?! Good lord; the DTV dial is already cluttered with multiple duplications of those channels. I'm in Lakeland, FL for the month, and Tampa Bay has quite a bit of duplication of subchannels: Court TV is on WFLA 8.2, WFTS 28.4, and WXPX...

Re: January Radio Ratings

Entercom's other Alternative stations aren't doing so hot either: - WQMP in Orlando is barely ahead of WPCV, a Lakeland-based country station that doesn't advertise much if at all in the Orlando area despite almost all of Orange County being within WPCV's 60dBu coverage area - KVIL in Dallas/Fort Wo...

Re: The end of a pandemic: what if this guy is correct?

I think the actual number of people infected is much higher than the official infection count as many people that may have been infected in the early stages of the pandemic (March/April/May) were never tested as they never developed symptoms or had mild symptoms not severe enough for a hospital visi...

Re: TheGrio replaces LightTV...

WTLJ has a decent digital signal. Occasionally I'm able to pick it up near the airport with a portable digital TV just with the included whip antenna (which isn't a good antenna). From that area, I can also pick up WLLA, WOOD, WOTV, WXMI, and WZPX and their subchannels

Re: Restaurants closed

Most of the restaurants that have closed during the pandemic were likely struggling hard pre-pandemic and may have gone under even without the pandemic. There will be some changes that remain post-pandemic: - Many, if not most, fast food places will be permanently drive-thru only (if it hasn't been ...

Re: 10”?

I was just watching KTRK online and they had a couple of their producers in a truck on a Houston freeway. They were the only car on the road on a freeway that's normally extremely busy. AccuWeather just said Houston may be lucky to hit 20 today. Current temperature 17 degrees with wind chill of 1 ab...

Re: 106.7 on the air?

Would either 99.7 or 99.9 make suitable translators? Completely forgot about 100.1 WOUF so 99.9 would be out. 99.9 would work as WOUF is a Class A. For comparison, there's a translator on 100.3 about 21 miles from Class A WTRV on 100.5. WOUF's licensed TL is at least 25 miles from the TC tower farm

Re: Vaccine rollout

Consider yourself fortunate. Our dumb ass Liberal government in Canada forgot to order a supply of vaccine until it was too late. Now they tell us they'll be ready to roll out a made in Canada vaccine some time in 2023. Canada's been trying to handle COVID like Australia and New Zealand (making int...

Re: 106.7 on the air?

The 95.1 Translator is pretty much useless. Not sure if WJNL's 101.1 still required to rebroadcast 1210.Would either 99.7 or 99.9 make suitable translators?Would hate to lose Duke FM on 99.7. Especially since its transmitter is right across M-72 from WCMV's transmitter! Smile FM's 97.1 and 102.5 tra...

And they have no FM translator. I really don't see the point.
However, there are two redundant translators in TC (CMU's on 95.1 and one of Smile FM's two translators). I'm surprised Midwestern hasn't attempted to buy one or both of them

Re: Blarney Stone Petitions FCC to cancel WLDR license

So, Roy sold his palatial home on Lake Conroe, north of Houston, and now (presumably) lives in an apartment in Grand Rapids. I never thought I would see that happen. Roy will hang on to these financially and technically hobbled radio stations until the very end. With him being in his 70s (most like...
