The Breeze one year later

Any thoughts on 98.7, as it’s has been a year since the demise of AMP?

IMO, it sounded the best last December, when the playlist was probably at its broadest.

Surprise!

I’m surprised that the weather overachieved so much with this storm, as the local folks have been otherwise very accurate the last several weeks with predictions of rain/wind/etc. events, even as much as a week or more ahead of each event. Also - I think this is more of a “Winter Storm Warning” even...

Re: Dave and Chuck the Freak

Morning radio in general is dreadful. Every once in a while I'll give a listen to 96.3, 93.9, 99.5 or 95.5 to see what my former favorite stations are doing with their morning show. If it's not pre recorded actors pretending to be in a relationship dilemma or a snoozefest single jock show or the sa...

Re: The Breeze

I haven’t noticed much of a difference lately. The other day I noticed every 3 songs was a post-2010 song for a few hours, and then the rest of the day just about nothing post-2003. Very odd scheduling. I also notice less and less soft rock and more R&B again though. Sigh. I want to hear England Da...

Re: No rain

Most of the metro area got nothing. I found it funny that the local weather folks were overhyping it, plus some of the electronic freeway boards posted warnings last night.

No rain

I realize that parts of our NE area got slammed with rain last night, but the majority of the Metro Detroit area saw none at all. Epic fail forecast? Most of our local stations predicted 1-2 inches, and maybe 3 for most of us.

HD Radio

It’s amazing to me how poorly anything related to HD Radio is executed. The national HD Radio website is not even accurate as to what the current subchannels are. Locally, at least a few of the subchannels are not even working now (WJLB HD2 and WKQI HD2). Additionally, you have situations where, wit...

Re: Mike Sullivan Gone from 97.1

I never like to see anyone lose their job, so I wish him well. I always wished, after Foster’s departure, that Valenti would get a co-host, as opposed to a ‘yes’ man like Sully.

The Breeze

I am glad to see stronger ratings the last few books, as the playlist gets a little larger. IMO, If you swapped out 3-4 of the more poppier songs each hour with more R&B type material, this would sound a lot like the former Smooth Jazz, don’t you think?

Re: Big changes in just released June ratings survey; WJR hits all-time record low

WDVD's numbers don't look much better. Both of those Cumulus stations have hemorrhaged roughly 1.5 shares over the past year. In 96.3's case, it's a mostly voicetracked station in the wrong format. Top 40 is atrocious right now. The only true live daypart is the morning show and it feels like it is...

Weird programming

IMO - *WOMC just played the Fugees, “Killing Me Softly”...sounds really out of place, even with the sprinkling in of 90s music. *WCSX’s choice of what sounds like Soft AC (slower Billy Joel and Eagles songs) mixed with Tesla and Warrant songs doesn’t sound right. *As for WLLZ, sounds like they raide...

Re: My 2 Cents on WLLZ

Are all of the shifts voicetracked? It sure sounds like it. Most of the beyond-tired, old tracks get played here. Wow - not anything like the 1980s Wheels, or even the 1990s Wheels. Who in this hell wants to hear “Summer of ‘69,” or “Nothing Else Matters” for the 10,000th time?

Re: 98.7 The Breeze just ruined itself with new Fresh / RnB playlist

I think the music sounds fine. For a while there they were just simply duplicating WOMC. They just need to double the size of the playlist.

Re: WOMC and “The 90’s

Pam’s Sunday morning show still includes a bit more “Sunday Morning Brew”-type material than the rest of the day. And the liners still mention the name.

Re: WCSX

I’m quite surprised that two of the highest rated stations, ‘CSX and WOMC, have tweaked so much in response to WLLZ.
