Re: A Small Change Might Help WJR, Cumulus Ratings

WJR just ran last night's weather forecast from Paul Gross, warning about severe weather. And this is the station we rely on for the EAS? :rollin

Re: Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer expected to issue coronavirus ‘Stay at home’ order

Both were way beyond capacity back in January, with flu patients. There were NO BEDS at Beaumont Troy, and patients were forced to stay in the ER. This went on for at least three weeks. I guess your media pals were out to lunch on that one. Excellent point, Realist. The media often doesn't report n...

Re: “Stimulus” bill killed

For those of you upset over Trump wanting to re-open things by Easter, how is this any different than Governor Whitmer's April 13th expiration of all restrictions currently placed on Michiganders? There is literally only a one day difference. Good catch. Nice to see there's someone else on this boa...

Re: Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer expected to issue coronavirus ‘Stay at home’ order

Both Henry Ford Health System and Beaumont Health System have announced that they are at capacity. Does anyone still think this isn't a big deal? Both were way beyond capacity back in January, with flu patients. There were NO BEDS at Beaumont Troy, and patients were forced to stay in the ER. This w...

Re: 102.7 wmom back on air

I'm excited to hear what the new format will be! Ludington radio is SO BAD. Really bad. WMOM didn't sound the greatest the last couple years on the air prior to its abrupt sign-off. I'm not a fan of the Synergy stations. 94.9 sounded SO MUCH BETTER years ago when it was known as Z95. Let's just say...

Re: Journalistic malpractice

It’s unavailable elsewhere so they take advantage of the shortage to mark it up 500 times what it goes for... there comes a point when the markup is ridiculous... 100% false. WWJ is running fright inducing, over the top (to the point of being laughable) liners and promos hyping their wall to wall c...

Re: 24 hr service/power

The only way that could occur is if EAS has been activated prior to the station's scheduled sign-off time, I presume. There is no EAS broadcast in effect, so it's a moot point. Based on current circumstances, the answer to the question is "no." Just a point...the rule I am talking about predates th...

The answer to your question is no, they are not.
There IS an FCC rule allowing daytime only stations to operate at night during an emergency. Now, whether or not the current situation would qualify, I could not tell you, but the rule does exist.

Re: WPON WCXI Updates - 2020

They haven’t aired classic country since WPON went off the air. All of their music now is foreign language. Usually I hear Spanish. A station with multiple foreign language music doesn’t sound like a good format to me. I bet it would, if you were the one cashing the checks. It's 100% paid programmi...

Re: Until this occurs, financial markets will remain in a tizzy...

How many people were dead from H1N1 before the great Barack Obama decided to take action? 2009 was a long time ago, but can any of you handwringing worry-warts remember for us? What, if any, restrictions were placed upon us then?

It is simply amazing to me how some people are so easily duped.

The longstanding Pasquale's restaurant is empty
Damn, that was a late night haunt of mine 35 years ago.
Pasquale's still packed 'em in, but the kids were no longer kids, and wanted to retire. Sad.

Re: The Fox soon WCMU

That $150,000 number certainly isn't aging well given the price WSRT received. This is looking more & more like a sub-$100k situation. Just 20 years ago, if memory serves, Rosseels got 650K for the original WBNZ, and Hoppe got just under 400K for his two stations over there, while retaining the tow...

Re: WPON WCXI Updates - 2020

Here at Telegraph & Quarton, WPON is much louder and clearer than WCXI.

As for the guys doing the oldies shows on WPON, some classes at Specs would not be a waste of their time.

Re: WCCW AM tower site for sale

What makes this a little different, is this is a fairly new site, as AM stations go. It was constructed in the last 20 years or so...it's not a site from 1947 that's rusting away, suffering from deferred maintenance. Is WCCW's old omni site still standing?
