Re: NMI Tropo Tonight
Tropo has mostly calmed down here from earlier this afternoon and evening. Not a lot more of interest here in Fremont, or at least not that I've bothered to pay attention to. Earlier, very strong tropo to Fort Wayne (170 mi., especially 98.1, 89.1, etc. which are usuals), Windsor yet barely Detroit ...

Re: Lake Superior Bandscan Series
Maps can always be used as a handy tool. For instance, when I make a new map, I usually use a past map and change all the stations heard in the new location to red and anything that is still leftover (not red) gets deleted. It makes it easier to I don't have to place the stations one by one on the m...

Re: Lake Superior Bandscan Series
Here's the thing about lake tropo: it's a closed circuit mesoscale system, a lot like an actual circuit (not that I know a lot about those, except for that playing with electricity can be rather shocking...) If you put all of my Lake Superior maps together (most are actually done, just not yet on th...

Re: 1260 Zeeland Transmitter site burns
Nopers, it's more of a half-and-half thing right now. 98.9 Whitehall usually occupies half the frequency here. It's strong enough to hear but still very much a semi-local. On the car radio, it's listenable on a good day, weak and staticy on a bad day. I usually hear Tomah and/or Two Rivers at least ...

Re: 1260 Zeeland Transmitter site burns
I think part of the reason it was so strong in those areas for me was because I was driving on M-6 when monitoring it. My car has a back window directional antenna, so I was aiming right at it and away from 98.7. But certainly it was having some issues with 98.7 in the GR area, no doubt there. But I...

Re: 1260 Zeeland Transmitter site burns
I don't know why it isn't mentioned further, but 98.9 signed on weeks ago. It can be heard throughout the area, though 98.7 kind of kills it off within the city. Easy to hear in Wyoming and Kentwood. I hear it very regularly up here in Fremont too when things are quieter, as long as WEMP isn't peeki...

Re: Lake Superior Bandscan Series
Thank you, and top o' the turkey to you this Thanksgiving, Turkeytop. I can only say that once a year. It's weird to combine DX and photography. I wish I had done it sooner, though I at least did it a bit in the past. Just a bit though.

Re: Portable Chargers For Cell Phones, Tablets, and Laptops
It does, very well!! Thanks ![Razz :razz](./images/smilies/tongue.gif)
And it's quite true. Engineers know a lot of crap that can really help people. It makes me wonder how many engineers actually lurk on this board. We know stations owners are around, because when you badmouth them, they tend to peek their heads out.

This is a strange question for an engineering and DXing category. ![Wink ](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)

Re: Lake Superior Bandscan Series
KLZ's primary coverage is on the east shore of Lake Superior, the north and west shore of Lake Huron, and the north and east shore of Lake Michigan. Keep in mind also that stations to the southwest are more likely and more intense at this location due to the shoreline facing southwest. But fear not,...

Re: Lake Superior Bandscan Series
These locations are very much pre-selected and fit a series of guidelines from elevation to coastal orientation and site spacing. The days are planned with (hopefully) enough time to complete scheduled bandscans and see all the sights along the way. I can't always say it works out as I planned. It m...
