Re: The Beatles, Love Them or Hate Them

I don't love 'em or hate 'em, but certainly find their music eminently listenable. Lennon/McCartney will go down as one of the great pop songwriting entities in music history. I especially like their excursions into psychedelia as proffered on albums such as Revolver and the marvelous singles "Rain"...

Re: Mike Austerman Was Just Interviewed On Local 4

In April 2008 somebody from here started another forum...the Atrium whose goal was a more civil discourse than what this place was at the time. After it shut down in September of 2009 I discovered Michiguide had a forum that was rather dead. It picked up considerably after the Atrium closed as peop...

Forgive my ignorance, but is there a reason he can't pick up CBET-9 just across the river? He does like Hockey Night in Canada.

Re: General Detroit Movie Thread.

In the '60s Channel 7 had their late afternoon Big Movie , later called the Big Show . It was 90 minutes from 4:30 - 6:00, so with commercials the movies were edited down to afterthoughts, but this kid didn't much care. :razz A lot of old war movies and classic creature features. There was also Chan...

So far, new sharp-shooting acquisition Sviatoslav Mykhailiuk is shooting .500 with one air ball and one triple. :razz

Re: Super Bowl Commercials 2019

I kinda liked the Audi "Grampa" spot -- started with parodic sap, but turned on a dime to end strong. The Bud Light "Corn Syrup" spot also had an interesting narrative and message. It's been awhile since I've seen such blatant negative comparative advertising. This may start a new trend. Concerning ...

Re: 2018-2019 Pistons

How is it even possible to have a 25-point lead in the second quarter and lose by 10? >:
There is a major malfunction on this team and it ain't Blake Griffin. Casey had better tear open a new one on this team before the scant crowds at LCA disappear entirely.

Re: Can't Get WJBK Off-Air in SW Detroit

I'm happy to report that attaching this inexpensive antenna to my uncle's aforementioned set-up solved the WJBK problem - it and its sub-channels all came in loud and clear! However, and perhaps this was an oversight on my part in regards to my original post, WADL and its sub-channels were received ...

Re: The most unpardonable sin in Detroit sports over the past decade. Your nominee please?

I think all he’s saying is that the guy was ruled safe but was actually out. So technically he retired 28 in a row regardless of what the umpire decided the call was... the reality was something different. Yes, I gathered that eventually, hence the four-out ninth inning. I can be slow and too matte...
