Re: CHOK flips back to Country

As far as the music goes on CHOK it has been like this. 1988 - 1992 : Adult Contemporary or MOR (not sure which one) 1992 - 2007 : Oldies 2007 - 2013 : Country 2013 - 2019 : AC Gold and Classic Hits I can remember hearing quite a bit of Country on CHOK up until 1988. The reason they stopped playing ...

Re: Canada Federal Election 2019 Predictions

Liberal Minority Government with the Conservatives in a very close second place. The NDP will do better than what some people expected, but will still be in third place.

Re: Toronto/Hamilton radio

Q 107, Y 108, and 97-7 HTZ FM are all Rock. If you are far enough East there is also 94.9 FM from Oshawa. For years I though that 97-7 HTZ FM was better than most Rock stations, but perhaps that has changed. For those who are curious here is the dial. FM 88.1 CIND-FM, Indie 88 : similar to an Altern...

Re: The atrocity known as AM HD radio

One problem with AM HD broadcasts is that they are 500 watts or less. There is one exception though. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WWFD This one particular station is 100% digital. Based on what I read it sounds like it gets out quite well. The hybrid digital mode is less than impressive on FM and a...

Could channels 2-6 (54-88 MHz) be used for ATSC broadcasts at first?

Re: Why So Much 80’s?

It was like this : 1983 - WHND (AM) was the only Oldies station in Detroit. WCZY or WABX could have went Oldies but one went Top 40 and the other became Class FM (WCLS). 1984 - WKSG 102.7 became the first FM Oldies station in quite awhile. 1986 - Both 93.9 CKLW-FM and WKSG were FM Oldies stations. 1...

Is there a lot of viewers still using broadcast antenna TV in those areas ?
In both Sarnia and Lambton County there are still many TV antennas around.

Re: Most distant AM/FM/TV signal you ever tuned in?

On AM it was 1150 CKOC from Hamilton, ON received in Fort McMurray, AB On FM I heard 99.1 KDZR / Z Rock from Denton, Texas in 1993 (E-Skip). I received that one near Brantford, ON. The Toronto 99.1 FM signal was not active back then. On VHF TV I've seen E-Skip from Wyoming and Texas in the 1990's. O...

Re: Bell wants to shut down more CTV transmitters

If Bell wants to keep the Sarnia transmitter on the air they will be forced to move it down to a lower channel. I think they will go from ch.42 to ch.27.

In the early 1990's WLLZ reduced their antenna height from 480 feet to 462 feet. 98.9 WOWE also signed on the air in 1990.

Re: CIAO 530 Now CHLO 530

CJFT Fort Erie was on AM 530 from 1986 until 1991. CIAO Brampton moved from 790 to 530 right after CJFT switched to the FM band.

Re: Hudson Tower (Building Under Construction) & Initial FM Collocation Analysis

WMXD, WDRQ, and WYCD could share a directional antenna that protects Cleveland and covers Metro Detroit quite well. I could see WJLB, WDZH, WNIC, and WGPR wanting the additional height too. If WMUZ moves further East there is a risk of more interference to a couple of Canadian radio stations.
