WLLZ was owned by CBS back then. The company became known as Infinity Radio for a while. WLLZ would have picked Howard Stern mornings and Smooth Jazz would ended up on 97 FM.

Could happen any day now. Alternative is not a ratings powerhouse in Detroit. Bell (Canada), IHeart, and now Audacy know this all too well. There might even be a day when WJR is heard on 93.1 FM.

It would be interesting if Cumulus made 93.1 WJR-FM and sold off that big AM 760 signal to Audacy. That would eliminate WWJ's signal difficulties at night (by moving from 950 to 760). This is very unlikely and I would imagine that there is a much greater chance of 98.7 FM becoming a simulcast of AM ...

Alt 98.7 is now a year old and still underperforming. I can see it either becoming a simulcast of 950 WWJ or flipping to Rhythmic A.C. is the near future.

We might see AM 1560 New York diplex with another AM transmitter site. There are a number of them in Ney Jersey that target the NYC metro area. They also might come back with a little bit less than 50,000 watts. Right now 550 WGR and 1520 WWKB in Buffalo are both combined.

I checked 550 WGR with a CCRadio 2e at a picnic table away from my apartment building and it turns out that it is not quite as weak as I thought. It just gets attenuated (reduced) in my apartment more so than a number of other AM stations. The same thing happens to 680 from Toronto.

They are on both AM 1230 and 92.5 FM. When I checked wikipedia still listed them as a Classic Rock station.

On hwy #401 in Ontario 104.3 WOMC almost always seems to make further to the NE than the rest of the Detroit FM signals.
They are 190 KW at 110 meters or 360 feet above average terrain.
