Re: IHeart Outages

Makes me wonder if a Studio-Transmitter Link got damaged.
The Studio building has a backup generator so I would have to agree that it may have been an STL problem.

Re: And it approaches....

Corporate greed also exists in local TV. The local stations and the main networks charge way too much when it comes to providing local channels to the cable and satellite companies. I'm getting close to cutting the cable myself. Cable and satellite rates have become outrageous!

Re: The atrocity known as AM HD radio

Sirius is absolutely garbage for sound quality.

I agree 100%, that is why I don't subscribe, my ipod is much better at 320k.

Re: Worst Tower Sites For Getting Stuck-Water, Mud, Sand, Snow, Ice, Grade, etc.

The major lobe maximum was close to a 50 kW Class B. When Bob Volz was chief engineer for WKNX TV and radio he told me the major lobe was putting out 55KW. I could carry them up to Alpena with no problem back then and you also could hear them in the thumb like a local station as well. I remember lo...

Re: Worst Tower Sites For Getting Stuck-Water, Mud, Sand, Snow, Ice, Grade, etc.

WKNX site was terrible. Some of their monitor points left much desired back in the 10kW days.
But boy did they have a signal back in the day. They were one of the most successful day timers in the country in the 60's and 70's.

Lauren also used the f-bomb on the air.
I believe that is what MW was talking about.

Comcast trucks were here the last few days, working on a pole a few houses from me,
and now there is a terrible buzz across the AM band, sounds like high speed , Wide band Digital signals.
Welcome to 5G on a pole near you.

I remember listening to CHYR up in the Tri Cities back in the 70's during the daytime, they had a real good ground wave to the north at that time.

Re: WNIC Audio

They don't care over there at ifart, their HD transmitter on 106.7 cuts out all the time and nothing is being done about that so don't expect a remade for WNIC soon if their audio is a problem. I don't listen to NIC so I can't comment on their problem.

Re: WLLZ HD signal

I've noticed their HD transmitter goes on and off periodically in Wayne, and Oakland counties. It is especially annoying listening on HD 2, at least on HD 1 it goes back to analog if the HD transmitter cuts out. I've been able to carry the HD signal up US-23 to M-59 then it becomes sporadic after th...

As a side note WWJ's 6 tower array is approx. 12 miles south of WJR's stick.
