Re: Hudson Tower (Building Under Construction) & Initial FM Collocation Analysis
The maximum ERP for 240 meters for a Class B is 20 kW, from the FCC.gov FM Power utility. So WDVD IS at maximum Class B facilities. WYCD, at 17.5 kW, though better than it ever was in its history, is not quite a full Class B facility. It should also be pointed out that when this thread was started, ...

Re: Hudson Tower (Building Under Construction) & Initial FM Collocation Analysis
Consider though that in Chicago, large swaths of signal also go into Lake Michigan. I just checked using the FCC.gov software utility, difficult to use, and WYCD is indeed still short spaced under 73.207 and even under 73.215 contour based overlap. I was surprised to see that WUGN is closer, 101.4 m...

Re: People in Washtenaw County love WUOM
In places where a local Class A, like WQKL, WTRV, and WFGR, even a 3 kW Class A, is near the center of a city, for areas within a few miles, the signal is actually stronger than the grandfathered superpower Class Bs from outlying areas like Chelsea, Gun Lake-Middleville, etc. There are places near t...

Re: Hudson Tower (Building Under Construction) & Initial FM Collocation Analysis
The WLS-TV tower on top of Marina City, with the lighted animated Circle 7, was 426 feet tall with the antenna. The overall height of the tip of the tower was 1549 feet AMSL, and was for a time the highest point in Chicago.

Re: Hudson Tower (Building Under Construction) & Initial FM Collocation Analysis
Update. New name for the building is Hudson's Detroit. Apparently, the Hudson Site Building is about to top out at 680 feet. It would take a fairly high tower on top of the building, like WLS-TV and WFLD-TV had on top of Marina City in Chicago in the 1960s and 1970s, to bring the HAAT high enough to...

I did see that a 100.7 was dropped in at Bear Lake after 99.9 was assigned to Custer. If that allocation gets moved toward TC, then another station would likely have to backfill and change its COL to Bear Lake (likely WIAA or WTCM-FM) I can't imagine anyone with any common sense moving another sign...

Re: Scottie Scheffler arrested for reckless driving and assaulting an officer
In the old days, all Scottie would have had to do was stop, tell the police who he was, if they didn't already know, and ask them if there was a way to help get him off the road safely to get to the event he needed to be at. Here's a story from the late 1970s for all you U of M fans and alumni, who ...

1210 sits on an old landfill. That can't be good for resale. A bit of topic, but wasn't The WFUR/WYHA tower also built on an old landfill? Is First Local Service still a thing? I did see that a 100.7 was dropped in at Bear Lake after 99.9 was assigned to Custer. If that allocation gets moved toward ...

I've been studying allotments in this area and others for nearly the last 40+ years. When they tried to move all those allotments around, like 10 stations changing frequencies, it was a disaster, and rightly so. The best you can do is move an existing facility with the present COL closer to Traverse...

Wrong Instacart Driver At House Kills Angie Harmon's Dog
Now that things are a little more back to normal, maybe it's time to go pick stuff up ourselves instead of letting drivers kill our dogs. Be careful, there's a lot of maniacs out there all over. Keep your dog in a safe place away from any maniacs at your door, though, to help avoid this. https://www...

Re: I-375 deconstruction is crony capitalism in action
I remember that years ago, in Chicago, they had long service drives on each side that acted like limited access highways, like an expressway inside a limited access highway. I wonder if that would be an alternative.

Re: CFCO-FM 91.3 International Concurrence Granted
CFCO 630 and CHOK 1070 are two of the best AM signals left in Ontario outside the Horseshoe. Even a Class A has nowhere near the coverage of either.

CFCO-FM 91.3 International Concurrence Granted
CFCO-FM 91.3. Don't know if this is in addition to the translator on 92.9, or if it is to replace it.

Re: Two Transistor Radio
I remember back in the 60’s we had the two transistor pocket radio, if I can remember these of course were cheaper than the six or eight transistor radio. Does anyone know why these were manufactured? I had someone tell me it had to do to a tax or tariff issue that Japan had to pay for radios that ...
