Re: WDRQ must be making WYCD sweat

I guess it can be bothersome that someone could presumably be unpleasant in appearance, though in my opinion it's more annoying how they sound or contribute to, or detract from the patter and flow of the show. Being from a point well outside the market, I used Google Images to get a look at Rachael,...

Re: Someone's got to say it, CONRAD'S BACK!

^^^^^^ Well, trouble seems to be all around us, these days.

Conrad is probably just pleased none of his new duties will involve any sign-on shifts in St. Johns.

Re: WLEN's Koehn Buys Crosstown WABJ/WQTE

If it keeps signals/formats the Tri-State people want in place, and some on-air jobs going, what's the harm?

Someone's got to say it, CONRAD'S BACK!

Six ticks up the dial from where you last found him, with "Jethro 94.9" in Grand Rapids, and a Lowell stick at 99.5.

Good luck, David! Saw your story on WOOD TV this morning. I fully expect your faithful will follow you, good work getting set up with a midday shift and west-side commute!

WLLA adds another sub Channel...

Dabl, a CBS Universal network is now on 64.6.

If you like property shows or Martha Stewart, or Emeril, you have what you’re after, from an OTA outlet.

Re: Tony Clark has passed away.

My stint as a part-timer at WILS was brief, five months in '84, but I think Tony and I crossed paths there. Pretty sure he was the guy tying everything together, as "LS 102" aired a big load of carts with tertiary tones that had to be produced and WILS-AM ran Drake Chenault reel-to-reel tapes via au...

Re: Easy 93.3

I worked for the MacDonalds in Cadillac in the mid 80s and we had WEVZ-FM, "Easy 96.7" but that easiness could be Zamfir, Perry Como, Mantovani or whatever was on the automated reels. It went over to CHR and WWLZ, "Lakes FM" about 1988 and is now WLXV, playing Country as "The Bull." The old shirts g...

Maybe they just don't have that many sponsors and in the old days, the carousel would have had fewer carts.

Nice to see Mark Sanger make some use of the law degree he earned while pushing "Ironside" around.

Re: West Michigan has lost a legendary media personality...

I will have to turn the basement upside down and look for the half-hour of cable access I have of The Great Daryl Nathan. His passing has brought his "International Lover" back to my consciousness. It is a double-edged sword, the viewing of those performers who were, in the nicest sense, "unusual," ...

Some others who reached heights via Channel 5's WNEM days...varied levels of notability... Pat Harvey was there around 1980 for her first job, went to CNN in its infancy and is now on CBS' Los Angeles affiliate and pitches in on "The Talk." Seeing him now in our thread starter's 2nd spot, Zip Rzeppa...

Re: B-93 Birthday Bash Postponed/Canceled. Again

You may not be aware, but there was Classic Country on 101.3, 20 years ago.

A live morning show, canned jock work otherwise, and Dave Ramsey in the evenings on WCUZ. Had been that way, in some fashion for several years.

They dropped it in the Fall of 2000 for "The Fox."

Re: WXLA 1170

The format change and call letter switch took place on 6/29/84, according to the irrefutable Wikipedia. That same source cites 2005 as the year that the signal went up a tick to 1180, and they billed themselves as “10,000 watt WXLA.” MacDonald got ahold of the signal a year later and programmed for ...
