Re: Do station employees watch their own station?
In 7's case, I think they watch the feeds from Indy since that's where master control is, unless they still have a small control room at Broadcast House. Every major station here is hubbed, to the best of my knowledge. Mike -- that is a pretty good idea, or they could have master control drop the C...

Re: Do station employees watch their own station?
I rarely watch the news at home, but when I do, I watch the station I work for. When I do watch the news at home, it is mostly in the mornings. If I see a mistake, I might mention it to someone but only if it’ll be productive. Mostly I just text the crew in the control room to bust chops or to say g...

Re: I’m off holidays so you can work
Yeah... while I applaud your efforts to call out mismanagement as you see it, this is just part of the business.
There are people who work on the holidays and people who don’t. It sucks for those of us who have to work on the holidays but that doesn’t necessarily mean it is some kind of injustice.

Re: Dick Kernen of Specs Howard/WRIF Passes...
He was influential in my career and the career of many others in this industry. He always had time for grads and anyone else who might need a bit of advice or a pep talk. The effect he had on this market will not soon be forgotten. RIP Mr. Kernen.

Re: Where Is Lovin
It finally happened?!???!???? :D Hopefully Sinkclair is next. I'm so tired of hearing about " In Over Her Head News Director and the Shipped In from Out of Town new Sinclair GM." I wouldn’t compare Sinklair’s posts to Lovin’s posts. I believe their is a difference between annoying and offensive. Wh...

Re: Opinion disguised as news
Correct Herm, and the union didn't help near the end. The Negotiators only wanted to get a contract to get so they would get their bonus and the company only give what they wanted. You can't change anyone or anything that doesn't want to change! Hope you are doing well! We worked together! The UAW ...

Re: Opinion disguised as news
Herm: that could be. If they already know who I am, then I suggest 25-66’s management take one of the following paths of action. 1. Fire the ASSistant GM/Promotions Director, the In Over Her Head News Director, the Director of Declining Sales, and the HR Director/Party Planner for years of well doc...

Re: Opinion disguised as news
MasterB: absolutely. It’s driving them crazy... primarily because they want to stop us from talking without really making any improvements. They “think” they know who we are, but they are wrong, and they can’t prove anything. Everything is being done off time, using non station equipment (sorry Mar...

Re: Failing future journalists
25-66 (and I suspect the other 2 stations in the Flint-Saginaw TV market) are making it very difficult for college students to get their foot in the door. We used to have a pretty good internship program that resulted in us giving J-school students some real experience and a demo reel. The program ...

Re: Kim Russell getting the interview
Kim is fantastic. She can make her own decisions as to what is safe for her and her pregnancy. If she feels it is still safe for her to work, then I think the rest of us should trust and respect her decision. If she is working and she feels a specific situation is too dangerous for her and her pregn...

Re: Meteorology Certificates
Bryan Bachman just announced that he received the CBM meteorological endorsement from the National Weather Service. Wondering what everyone thinks about whether these certificates matter these days. Stations end up spending a lot of money and time promoting it, but do viewers really care? It remind...

I fully support this. Jamie is fantastic! She is more than capable of being the #1 in any sports department.

Re: Local4 says it will refer to “militia” as “domestic terrorists”
Not “allegedly.” Local 4 really did convict them BEFORE and in spite of a trial. Ma’am... Local 4 is a TV station. They have no power to convict anyone for anything. Courts do that. Judges and juries do that. TV stations make TV shows and sell ad time. And how does one go about doing something in s...
