Re: NBC hires and then quickly fires Ronna McDaniel after backlash from on-air hosts
McDaniel's RNC bashed the MSM news organizations regularly and characterized election coverage as "fake." Well-seasoned journalists took offense to the fact someone who views them with disdain (or at least pretended to do so) would be drawing a paycheck from NBC Universal and perhaps roaming the sam...

Re: Michigan To Hire Florida Atlantics Dusty May As Head Basketball Coach
Nearly identical columns from Wojo at the News and Rainer at the Freep published hours apart trying to prop up Warde. The Mel Pearson fiasco receives only a couple sentences in each column. Both provide almost identical detail of John Beilein's involvement in recruiting Dusty. Both columns completel...

Lions lose Josh Reynolds to free agency
His second half performance against the Niners stunk, but he played very well most of the 2023 season. I was hoping he'd return. Instead, he's signed a contract with the Broncos. https://www.detroitnews.com/story/sports/nfl/lions/2024/03/27/lions-lose-receiver-josh-reynolds-who-gets-14m-deal-with-de...

Re: MSU vs. UM hockey this weekend
The NCAA said it likes to host regionals in a Metro area that is set to host the Frozen Four the following year.
Regardless, choosing a ~2,500 seat venue for a regional is beyond idiotic.
The Frozen Four in 2025 will be played at the Enterprise Center, the home of the St. Louis Blues.

Re: Bally Sports May Lose TV Rights to MLB Next Week
I noticed Bally's recently increased the monthly price of their streaming channel by $5. It is now $19.99 a month. No thanks!

Re: Macomb County Scanner: WDIV Workers Fight
FTV Live is reporting the decommissioned van was sold to a WDIV employee and that said employee was involved in a domestic dispute. I have no idea if it's anyone involved with the news operation.

Re: Baltimore bridge collapses
Exactly. It was an interstate freeway. The collapsed bridge makes an extremely important port for international commerce largely unnavigable. I think it is very appropriate for the federal government to have integral involvement in the recovery and reconstruction.

Re: Another leaving WXYZ
According to FTV Live, coverage of the Baltimore bridge collapse by Scripps' WMAR in Baltimore was absolutely pathetic. They provided minimal coverage during the scheduled morning newscast (other stations were wall-to-wall with coverage, and some even did away with commercial breaks) and ran GMA as ...

Re: Tom Skilling retiring
Tom Skilling was a pioneer in extended forecasting. He was the first TV meteorologist I've ever seen offer a 7-day forecast, and he is the first I've ever seen offer a 10-day forecast. Not only was he a pioneer in the above regard, but he was DAMN GOOD at it! He often forecasted heat waves or snow s...

Gotta love how RFK, Jr. essentially handed the #2 spot to the highest bidder. What a weirdo!

Re: Baltimore bridge collapses
Anchors were indeed dropped into the water, but evidently they either didn't hit bottom in time or weren't sufficient to bring forward speed to a stop in time to prevent the collision. Per CNN: The ship dropped its anchors as part of an emergency procedure before hitting the bridge, the Maritime and...

Re: Baltimore bridge collapses
There was a crew of folks filling potholes on the bridge during the overnight hours to minimize traffic flow disruption. They happened to be working on the span that fell into the water. All are believed to have perished. It is unclear to me how much time existed between when the mayday call was mad...
