Just a fun little thought exercise

Imagine this. You put: -Nancy Pelosi -Chuck Schumer -Kamala Harris -Bernie Sanders -AOC -Hillary Clinton ...you put those 6 individuals in a room, lock the door, give them an ink pen and unlimited paper, and give them permission to draw up a brand-new Constitution FROM SCRATCH. What would the final ...

Re: Trump to name next Supreme Court Justice soon

The difference today compared to not that long ago is that the Senate now makes its advise and consent decisions based purely on politics rather than on qualifications. Remember these votes? 98-0 John Paul Stevens 99-0 Sandra Day O'Connor 98-0 Antonin Scalia 97-0 Anthony Kennedy 90-9 David Souter 96...

Re: Trump to name next Supreme Court Justice soon

2 months or 9 months is irrelevant. The Constitutional duty remains. As I said, I thought the Republicans in 2016 ultimately should have allowed a floor vote on Obama's nomination. Now back to the impeachment question - that raises an interesting procedural question. What would happen if the Dems so...

Re: Trump to name next Supreme Court Justice soon

I think Pelosi might have fewer marbles rolling around in her head than does Biden.

Re: Can we just put the Lions out of their misery?

Another day. Another blown double-digit lead (albeit an early one).

Terrible clock management in the last 2 minutes of the first half.
Bad play calling.
Too many dumb penalties.
Terrible defense in the 3rd quarter.

Vintage Lions. Now 0-2.

Re: Trump to name next Supreme Court Justice soon

I again have to quote Hillary Clinton the day Scalia died:
Elections have consequences. The president has a responsibility to nominate a new justice and the Senate has has a responsibility to vote.
Couldn't have said it better myself :lol

...neither they nor their fearful leader Trump give a damn that three states on the west coast are up in flames...
Why should they? When Trump tried to help stop the riots, the local politicians told him to go back to his bunker.

Re: RUTH BADER GINSBURG DEAD

People who bet on this stuff seem to think that Trump has been marginally helped by this situation. https://www.predictit.org/ Florida for the first time in months is in the red and Trump is up to 46% to win for the first time in 3 weeks. Based on where that map stands now, Trump is just one more fl...

To declare anybody didn’t have a second wave is premature. ...as was you declaring that Sweden got it wrong - at which time I said just wait - they'll be over their Coronavirus well before anybody else is. Since late July, Sweden has only been averaging TWO deaths per day related to Covid, and in S...

These days everybody is perpetually enraged not just Democrats.
Except that Democrats are the ones burning cities to the ground over their "rage."

Re: RUTH BADER GINSBURG DEAD

Galvanizing People around judges is usually a Republican tactic. Democrats don’t get much mileage out of it. It’ll actually galvanize them if you confirm somebody, not deflate them. I would be very careful if I were the GOP... How do you figure? If a judge is already confirmed before the election, ...

You’ll have a massive number of enraged Democrats over how it was handled by Trump and McConnell.

Re: RUTH BADER GINSBURG DEAD

Again, that is only if one of the Conservative justices goes the other way. Which is what I mean when I say he's more worried about a political crisis than a Constitutional one, because whichever Conservative were to cause such a deadlock would immediately become Public Enemy #1 of the entire Republ...

Re: RUTH BADER GINSBURG DEAD

Ted Cruz made a legit argument for filling the Supreme court. A deadlock could cause a constitutional crisis. https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/sen-ted-cruz-ginsburg-senate-election Except that it is currently a 5-3 Court and not a 4-4 Court. Unless he knows something we don't know about which way on...

Re: RUTH BADER GINSBURG DEAD

McConnell's argument (which I find rather weak, btw) is that there's a difference between when the same party controls the executive branch and the Senate (like now) and when they're controlled by opposing parties (like 2016). His logic is that when people elect a Senate majority of the party opposi...
